Oh Kori, this was so exciting! Yes please do a swatch party, I’m very interested. Do you put all the tube paints in palettes? Just starting on this journey. Also love seasonal palettes, I’ve been watching videos with what artists included in theirs, it’s never the same, but always lovely. So, yes, I will put them in palettes. Tubes are much more economical because you can get quite a few half pans out of a single 5ml tube, which makes it great. Plus, if you like to make various palettes like I do, such as my summer one or my other one, then you can use the tube on those palettes and spread it around :)

I have soooo many daniel smiths and they are my absolute favorite but I also have the 48 half pan schmincke and use them only occasionally when I know I'm not going to mess something up....😆 I've never tried the granulating schmincke colors and I totally want them ALL....LOL!

Oh gosh the super granulation sets from Schmincke are sooooooooo pretty. I drool just thinking about them. I love Daniel Smith, and I'm really starting to get into their colors for sure. They have some beautiful beautiful paints!

Just found your channel; thank you for sharing your talents with the world! Wow! You must really paint a lot to use all of these, as it would take me decades. Do you keep all of these paints or sell the ones you no longer use? You must use a ton of paper. I didn't really think 15 ml tubes were very large, as I have some DaVinci and American Journey (sold by Cheap Joe's) that are 37 ml. I am looking forward to watching several of your other videos.

The reason I tend to not go past 15ml is because unless you use it all up, it will start to dry out eventually. But, they are more economical in tubes and I like to make special palettes, including my summer one, which I just put up on my channel, other seasonal ones, mood-based ones, etc. So, I have a lot of fun creating custom palettes using those tubes!

@@ColorfullyOptimistic They're different than I expected. They're actually very pigmented (most of them) i.got the 12+6 set on sale.for 39$. I just couldn't pass that up. I finally am getting to put together my dream pallette. I got those and some daniel smiths and some quarter pans of schmincke super granulating watercolors. OH and like 3 qor colors (which i absolutely LOVE) I REALLY want to try some roman szmal and the qor earth colors next. Which if the roman szmal.would you recommend most for someone who already has a complete set and just wants something different/fun?

I got some old but still new/packaged Schmincke Horadam pull pans for 1€ each. They’re my most expensive ones and cheapest at the same time lol. Got some cadmiums and cobalts so I’ll need to keep that in mind considering I often clean my waterbrushes on my hands and I cought my cat in time before she smelled my new (cheap & non-toxic) paints by dipping her nose into them instead of hovering over them like a “normal” cat would (if there is such a thing as a normal cat 😂)

Oh yes, if you are using paints that are considered "toxic" pigments, definitely don't use your skin to clean them.

yes to the swatch party, but give it a week? I may just have bought a few (and by a few I mean a lot) Schmincke, Roman Szmal and W&N colours for my b'day and I'd love the swatching company. I have 18 or 19 of the Van Gogh colours and I like them. If I'd never crossed paths with Schmincke, I might even love them. I've been using them for my Doodlewash sketches this month. They're good paints, and certainly on my side of the Atlantic they're really affordable. Looking forward to seeing the dusk colours because I'm curious about them, they look fab

I need a few days too went on hospice and moved into a tinyyyyy 2022 caravan temporarily to have family near me , my daughters house is right next to it I’m finishing up packing so I can go home by Friday possibly tommorrow prob Tomm, she had a baby girl 2 days ago and too much over here not to mention this thing isn’t meant to be lived in permanently, I miss my house so much and can’t wait to get my but back where I belong, I cancelled hospice , reason I had it I have pancreatic cancer and they basically have up on me I refuse to just lay down and die although I’m realistic and trying to get into a trial med and my dna was sent out to see if one of them will match up and just give me more time so far with it I’ve seen 2 grand babies enter the family , which is most awesome , I do believe people praying for me has helped immensely , I’m sorry I probably just put a big damper on your post I’m sorry, but anytime after Friday I am in with a swatch party I have many sets that need to be swatched A LOTTTTTTT LOL

I filled a 48 pallet with Daniel smith I swear over a week ago and they’re still not dry I think I filled it up too much or filled pans into the pallet maybe I’ll take them all out. ANY IDEAS????????

So, it depends on where you live. If you live in a very humid/warm climate, they will take awhile to dry. Out here in Utah, they dry quick haha. But, we are dry. Also, it helps if you are doing half pans/full pans to add a little, wait, then add more. When you fill the entire thing, it can take a bit to dry, and you want to leave them exposed, but covered lightly so that no dust settles into the paint while it dries.

The issue with YT lives, although a lot of fun, is that the video quality is often lower for some reason, which would make it harder to see the paints and swatches.

Ah yes! That is actually a VERY good point. Even though I have a 4k camera, doesn't mean the quality always comes across while streaming. I might do a pre-recording then. 💜

​@@ColorfullyOptimistic yh maybe the 4K will make a difference? ​Tbh, your livestream video is better than most, but the footage it still a bit out of focus at times, or the focus is a bit in and out and at times leaning towards pixalized. I think that probably has to do with the livestream factor. Hopefully, with technology changing faster that the speed of light, a solution will be found to have the same type of video clarity as with pre recordings. Cuz, livestreams are a lot of fun! So... on second thought, I'm a bit of two mind on this now. Perhaps a swatch with me pre-recording and than a livestream paint with me? Would that be something you would be interested in?

As consolation - the Schmincke specialty palettes weren’t worth it. The actual palettes were very cheap. The edges of the central area are unfinished and sharp. Mixing area is impractical. I’ll be shifting the paints into another palette. Sometimes it’s best to note the paints & create your own. 😊

That's good to know! Sad that they don't put much effort into those specialty palettes. You are talking about the limited edition and not their normal palettes right? I have a set of Schmincke paints and that palette is just fine.
