I lived over road in Coop St when the law courts were opened by Lord Hailsham. I remember seeing him grinning in his pinstripe suit. And aged 17 I was one of their first customers. Prosecuted for riding my Lambretta LI150 without an effective brake or warning instrument. Very humiliating.

@@hgt1001 I appeared in court once. It was for not producing a motoring insurance certificate to a desk cop at South Shore Station. I was let off when was able to prove I had insurance in court.

Hi Stephen, Happy New Year!. I heard that it was going to be demolished, it's been stood empty for quite some time now. I remember how busy it was when the market was there when I used to pass through as a kid with my family. Hopefully the sites future looks promising whatever they choose to do with it. I think a few vloggers will be around the demolition. Got to get rid of the old to make way for the new.

That is one of the most grotesquely ugly buildings I have ever seen! It's mind-boggling to know that Mr. Booth was actually paid to design such a monstrosity. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Great video Stephen ! It all needs to come down, such an eyesore and not designed for the disabled person with all those steps, very much of its time. The site is huge ! And I really hope Blackpool gets something worthwhile put there and perhaps some green space !

If it was the USA it would be down in 2 days, they recently demolished the Tropicana Hotel and surrounds and it took 2 days for it all to be down and have to big mounds of rubble at either end of the old property, why do things take so long in this country??

Brilliant drone footage of blackpool the tower looks epic in the distance but as for multi story carparks the council build them everywhere i cant think why but weve got more carparks in birkenhead than shops lol but as for the police station they could of made residential flats out of it but i suppose the council are thinking theres no use for the police station anymore it could be full of damp or just mildue in the brick work my dad was a builder and demolitioner in the 90s and he seen some dumps in london hackney he said the mould in some of those places were shocking so they had to knock them down some buildings just wear down i think with time and age but as for those people going into the station they could be land registary managers to make a floor plans and come up with whats going there next and mabe a safety inspector but as you say a car park lol 😂 looks quiet today in blackpool everyones skint from christmas but loved this video thanx for sharing 👍✋😊🕊️😂🗼❤️

The multistorey carpark was condemned and demolished due to failing concrete. It was probably built from the same RAAC as the courts. So they knew of RAAC problems back in the 1990's
@mrlister2000Күн бұрын
There used to be an old Victorian toilet block on the Central car park which was part of the huge Central Station building. Sadly that's been demolished and replaced. If you look at the road surface of the car park, there are tarmac and concrete strips. The concrete sections are the old platforms, and the tarmac ones are where the railway lines once were. Darren from Adventure Me did an amazing video about Central Station, and where the 14 train lines & platforms once stood. It is well worth a watch!

The Chomper demolition equipment will have that down in a week. A similiar machine chewed through the Giro/Santander building in Litherland, near Liverpool, in just over 2 weeks, and that building was taller and longer than the police station and magistrates court building.

The other window firm I work for put the metal sheets on those court windows because the homeless were breaking in. Despite the four security guards employed to keep it safe. Nothing goes well for our area of Central drive. we were meant to have the super casino on the land & now the firm building the new super complex has gone bust, just like the firm building the rigby road housing project. Why. Ant they offer it to local firm like s&s, ark construction, or tyson builders who have taken over foxall project. Even all of them, after all, its a huge job, and it will give us locals long-term work. I worked on the arndale centre after the IRA blew it up.1 main contactor, but a lot of firms sub contracted in. It's in the heart of blackpool, so it's only fair we get build it.
@mrlister2000Күн бұрын
I have to say that from high up, that complex looked shocking. A mish mash of concrete carbuncles, which 60's and 70's architects loved, but even back then they looked hideous!

Bonny St car park £6.00 for 3 hours parking 🙈. I paid it cause I hadn’t been to Blackpool in over 14 months. Anyways, both me and the wife had a good walk about and we couldn’t believe how bad it’s got, there’s not much left of Blackpool at all, as we walked about we tried to find a greasy spoon for a cooked breakfast but could we find one, no 🙄. Anyway we both said the same, never again it’s finished and car parking fees are pretty much day light robbery. Long gone are the days of the old tower lounge with live music and a great atmosphere, and it’s now a glorified chippy 🙄
