The role was originally written for Russell Crowe, but he wasnt able to do it. Due to another project. So he recommended Hugh Jackman. The studio didnt want to hire Hugh because he was very unknown at the time. An they instead hired Dougray Scott who wasnt as well known, but he was relatively known & that's where studio was willing to compromise. But suddenly Dougray dropped out to do MI2. So the studio went back to Hugh offering him to come & audition. He almost didnt accept because his wife at the time Deborah told him not to take the role. That his character & the plot was ridiculous. But Hugh went with his gut & took on the role & history was made.

Jackman could have played any hero and be great. You name it:Superman, Batman,...or James Bond, you name it. His Wolverine is amazing, the best.

I like that Bryan said the claws embarrasses Logan. We would not have thought of that, but it makes sense.

AMEN to that!! Otherwise we would have missed out on Hugh playing the part (and my cosplay career would have never happened, lol). I discuss that with him in my interview a year ago
@zaynes5094Ай бұрын
@@Lonstermash I actually think that Dougray wouldn't have done well and they would've actually recast to Hugh in the second one, or had Dougray fired and had Hugh come in, since that was who Bryan, the director, had wanted all along. And believe it, it does actually happen sometimes. James Cameron is well known for being a controller on set and if you don't like the tight ship he runs, he tells you to go home and the next day your stuffs loaded outside your trailer and someone else who looks a bit like you is begin brought in.

The director talks too much and doesn't really make his point well. Hugh is being amazingly patient.
@zaynes5094Ай бұрын
@LisaMurphy No Lisa, he was explaining it to Hugh because Hugh didn't quite get the comics and didn't quite get the story. So this was a quick way of taking a shot at helping with a line reading, which is normally with the director and/or writers, to get him in that character and the feel of it. Kevin Conroy has an amazing interview with Michael Rosenbaum in which he details the whole process of first being casted as the Batman in the '92 animated show. How he was a nobody theater actor from New York who was classically trained in Shakespeare. From his classical experience, he was actually able to tap into this dark, brooding voice that he could go into because he understood the character from a personal perspective from his own experiences and he got it from a professional perspective as well. Knowing how he could approach this character like a great Greek tragic character.
