Most couples eventually downsize, as they don't require so much space as the family grows and leaves home. However, they can still stay married. This split is so mysterious as Hugh and Dev seemed so in love, so supportive of each other, with both believing in marriage and family. To pursue "individual growth" is a cop out. Wonder if we will ever know the reason. I wish them both well, they are great people and were a great couple.

I agree with this. If the things they say were true, why get divorced? You can grow individually, together, and be married, if you're in a loving and supportive environment. I think someone must have lost their spark for the other. I can't imagine that either of them would have stepped out, because they both seemed so committed to the other. I think it's probably more of a platonic relationship now, but I don't necessarily think that alone would lead to divorce.

Why we all think doesn't matter, BUT I will still say why I think this happened. Deb probably wants to go back to life in Australia, n Hugh doesn't feel the same, 54. She older, 67 n wants to chill, n focus on her organization HOPELAND. He is still booking high-profile movies and has to travel a lot to promote. She is tired. They are at a crossroad n choosing their own individual journey. I believe they still very much love each other but more now as friends/parents to their children. Functioning as friends, not lovers. Just incredibly sad but I suppose life is short and each can seek their own happiness now. Unfortunately love does not endure all in some cases…both have to have the resolve in order to stay together no matter what. Vows are just words…actions speak louder. Best to both.

People grow apart. I really dislike when outsider people try to pick apart the 'why'. They all need shut the F up. No one knows what goes on in private. Think of all the couples who looked 'fine' in public, but had serious issues behind the closed doors (domestic violence, cheating, whatever).

So sad, but who knows the truth. I believed what they said,and hugh seemimg to mean that she was the love of his life..the latter years of life is when we surely need each other more.What do i know ,love to them all.

Their life, their memories, their choices....all the experts are simply giving their opinion which they're entitled too but there's only 2 people who know the reasons and they don't need to share it with anyone.
