Hugh Jackman tells CNN's Chris Wallace what he had to do to prove that he could play "Wolverine" despite being almost a foot taller than the character and why he's reprising the role for "Deadpool 3."

Fun Fact: Wolverine was not expected to be the break-out character of the New X-Men when the first issue came out in 1975. The creators thought that would be Nightcrawler. The character was featured prominently in the stories, and was also given high-profile guest star roles in Spider-man comics. Readers didn't respond though, and when Canadian artist John Byrne started drawing the book in 1978, the Canadian hero Wolverine was featured more prominently and the character soon became a fan-favorite.

I liked Hugh Jackman in The Prestige, he was good in Swordfish, I liked him in The Fountain (soundtrack was excellent too) and although Van Helsing wasn't the best monster film, Hugh Jackman wasn't bad in it. He was even kinda creepy (good in the context of the film) in Deception. To be honest, there was a lot to hate about the X-Men films and the first two Wolverine films, but Logan was fantastic. I'm so glad he seems excited to get back into the role. I remember being at SDCC when he was promoting Van Helsing and nearly ALL the questions to him from fans was about Wolverine. He told everyone he loved the role and would keep playing him as long as possible, however he was there to promote Van Helsing. I had to leave that panel slightly early for another one, however the last question I heard before the doors closed was "Who would win in a fight--Van Helsing or Wolverine?" 🤣😂🤣

I remember when i saw wolverine for the first time. I looked at my dad in Awe because he and Hugh Jackman look the same. They even make the same face expressions. But he's actually 5'5 maybe he's the real Wolverine😮. He loves Hugh Jackman as much as anybody.

When actors know their whole crew, you know they’re acting for themselves. They love what they do and see acting as very complex. They know they’re a part of something that’s being made by hundreds, or thousands of people. They don’t look good if no one else does. If they don’t look good, it’ll embarrass everyone on the crew. It may even cost someone their job, or lack of business in the future.

Is it weird that I suddenly got this huge yearning in my heart when he said that he was looking forward to coming back? I *loved* the movie Logan. It hurt so much and was so meaningful and I still can't bring myself to rewatch certain scenes yet... But he's coming back one last time... I'm so glad.

Ryan Reynolds is probably the only person that could have ever got Hugh Jackman to come back and play Wolverine one more time. I don't know if it had anything to do with Ryan playing Weapon 11 in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and him saying to Hugh that Hugh owed him a favor. That could have been it, but I am just glad we get to see Hugh put the claws on one more time.

And the fact that he teams up with Ryan (who needs about as much introduction as Chuck Norris), I'm honestly really really excited. I don't think I'm looking forward to any movie more than this or maybe Kung Fu Panda 4? But I also own EVERY Kung Fu Panda animation (besides the TV series) and I'm looking to collect every movie featuring Wolverine, whether it be a cameo or not, just to say I have it cuz it's so cool. Hugh is the whole reason why I watched the first X-Men movie. I remember watching the trailer for it, and it was the scene where Wolverine was battling Sabertooth on top of the Statue of Liberty. When he charges at Sabertooth while yelling, I thought, "Wow ! He's good at playing angry. I wonder what the character is so pissed off about." That's what got me to watch, and by the end of the film, I was a Hugh Jackman fan. So yeah the movie dropped in 2000, and now for nearly 23 years, I have been a fan of Hugh's. I'm so happy he's playing Wolverine again.
