Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry in Blackadder are comedy gold meant to be!

This is one of the best interviews of an artist describing what is being done and the limitations that come along with time. Hugh Laurie is very patient with the lady who is interviewing him and remains thoughtful throughout.
@insomniacbritgaming1632 Жыл бұрын
In a normal scenario, I hate her interview style, constant pushing, but you can see the joy in her eyes interviewing him, you can see how excited she is.
@duroxkilo Жыл бұрын
yes indeed... the company and environment suits the approach, they are both having a good time interacting. this is so much different than what we see most of the times on US tv/interviews, a departure from ultra scripted conversations -even when there's no script if that makes sense :). this feels like the opposite of artificial...

Very well said! As wonderful as it is to hear interruped snippets of Hugh Laurie speaking, it would've been far better to actually hear him develop his thoughts. Instead we get to hear the interviewer pontificating and making idiotic assumptions.

Dear Hugh luck has nothing to do with it, your ability and intuition has opened doors and placed you in your position of a highly skilled artist. To put it subtly, you're just the best. All the best from the Antipodes.

I like it. It feels like it could go wrong, but he seems to do what’s she trying to get him to do. Which is getting into his perceptions of these greater contexts that we see as people watching. This wouldn’t work if they weren’t both participating. If they both weren’t British either. As an American who appreciates dialogue, it’s actually pretty nice. British can talk. I think they can dance around a conversation in a way few Americans could match.

The interviewer has done a lot of research. I notice that most of her questions are closed-requiring yes or no answers. This makes it challenging for the guest to respond. Hugh Laurie does a great job at unwinding an answer.

What little you know, it may be in some sort o extended cut but Hugh Laurie's desire and passion is jazz, which was very nicely placed in the TV show House. Acting and comedy is something he is simply good at. One person, along with Stephen Fry who I genuinely would like to know. Laurie being the closest being a neighbor for a few years...when he was filming House so was rarely there haha...sad face

I never believed I'd see an interview where Mariella Frostrup was so starstruck that she made such a pigs ear of it. It's dire. You can see Hugh turn off and go on to autopilot after 2 minutes. Give it to Parkinson. Soupy twist!

i wish House had been a comedy. Hugh was hilarious with fry in the 90s.
@WallJumpGaming Жыл бұрын
But it was, House is very well written. At least I find it funny, every episode, at least somewhere they sneak in a joke. It has its drama bits for the sake of a soap, but come on, Laurie is a genius of comedy, he just gets on screen and you will definitely laugh in the next hour.

I gotta say having been born baptized and raised in Presbyterian household ( in America) I can definitely relate to everything he has said regarding our mutual religious upbringing. To bad the church at least in this country has lost its way in the past few decades.

the church has always been a bit* sideways... a few decades ago they were holding meetings and radio shows counting how many god has punished in the last week thru AIDS, just as an example... *a lot actually. i'm not saying everyone's mental, but the loonies always manage to get a hold of the whole assembly even if just temporarily. you know what i mean? we don't have doctors 'overrun' by psychos or firemen lead by arsonists, teachers under the leadership of child predators, etc. but we kind of see that happening w/ the church at regular intervals unfortunately.

Surprised to learn that Hugh did Archaeology and Anthropology at Cambridge. It was well known to be the subject for guys who went to Cambridge as sportsmen and 'organ scholars' and who lacked the intellectual capacity to do 'proper' degrees. That's not how I see Hugh at all - as this interview makes clear.
