His comedy roles when he was younger often featured him playing the piano (which really was him, he was a phenomenal musician before becoming an actor and plays the piano, guitar, drums, harmonica and saxophone) and singing. He always wanted to perform music live but wasn’t sure he had the voice for it. Some would say he doesn’t and that he has only achieved fame in his music because of his acting. But on the piano he is very talented indeed. Check out him playing Minnie the Moocher in Jeeves & Wooster, and Soupy Twist in ‘A Bit of Fry and Laurie’. Incidentally, before becoming a famous actor he was also an Olympic level rower. Some people have more than their fair share of talent!

I dunno. I'm a big fan of his acting, and appreciate his musicianship, but this is pretty lame. Seeing him try and pull of this funky-soul-man routine is almost embarrassing. If he wasn't a famous actor from a popular show, this wouldn't be getting nearly the same attention or positive comments.
