This ride prodominately appeals to the pre-adolescent demographic, yet I fail to see how it would meet safety standards when you look at that boy's height and narrow shoulder span and there's a huge gap at the top of the harness. Even though there's a height restriction, that doesn't necessarily correlate to an individual's weight and body structure. A tragic accident, RIP to the little girl.

On ALL rides like this now after what happened in 2014, there are warnings that riders & operators are now forced to adhere too. One of the BIGGEST warnings of all is the Pregnancy Warning meaning no one carrying at any stage of pregnancy can ride. The other biggest warning is heart problems & blood pressure warning. This thing has been scraped now and although the owners co-operated with the SAPOL investigation, they have still been charged to face court over the death of the 8-year-old child in 2014.

I read that 1st safety mechanism failed, causing the shoulder restraints to move 10cm forward, before the second safety kicked in. Thankfully more scrutiny is being put into safety in SA now. But unsure if other states are following suit

The seat belts are just fixed length. Perhaps it would be safer if they were like those in cars that catch and stop if you try to move them too quickly? That way once the safety brave closes over the seat belt would tighten, and it would only unwind slowly or stay at a short length until it was clicked open. Perhaps the linen of the seatbelt was too long? Shorter length would have kept it closed.

I agree, or perhaps installing lap-belts for use on the smaller passengers... Or raising the height restrictions... The harnesses are too loose for children this small. I can only imagine that the girl was about the same size as this boy, maybe a little bigger...

Both me and that girl’s details matched. Both 8, with our dad, there on the same day. We went home once we found out though, I was terrified.

This ride is ridiculously long. Normally, flat rides don't last more than two and a half or three minutes (where I live at least). This one lasts four and a half agonizing minutes.
