Hughenden Manor, Hughenden, Buckinghamshire, England, is a Victorian mansion, with earlier origins, that served as the country house of the Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli, 1st Earl of Beaconsfield. It is now owned by the National Trust and open to the public.
The home of the most unlikely Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, which has always divided opinion but even his detractors do not deny his fascination. He was at once an ambitious orator and a flamboyant flatterer, in all assured of his own brilliance. Disraeli dazzled Victorian Britain through his politics, his novels, his close relationships and his reputation.
Disraeli's marriage to Mary Anne Wyndham Lewis and the home they created together at Hughenden gave him the fundamental grounding he needed to succeed. Acquiring a country house estate secured the status of Disraeli as a serious politician. Mary Anne devoted herself to running an efficient household and unreservedly supporting Disraeli's career, for which he was always grateful.
This place is so beautiful that words cannot describe. The house is absolutely amazing with all the details, the hall history behind this house it's so fascinating :)
Queen Victoria commissioned a replica of a portrait of herself to present to Disraeli in 1876. The original hangs in Buckingham Palace. He was anxious to have an image of the woman he called ' The Faery' in his 'Gallery of Affection'.
