That little old JRT stole my heart. Husband and I lost his 18yo Rudy during COVID. The obliviousness to guests and slowly wandering in the background was so much like him the last few years. He was such a good companion to John during some rough spots in life before John and I met.

D'Arcy & Imogen have put so much time, energy, effort and thought into making this magnificent piece of history into a living, breathing family home. I imagine it must be rather difficult to integrate into a family holding a historic home and help create something for the children you create together and for their future lives & families. Such tremendous love & care required. Clearly D'Arcy & Imogen are succeeding together brilliantly. What a warm, welcoming, lovely family home.

Hi Julie, what a beautiful place Constable Burton Hall is. The estate, the park land, everything is just stunning. The long-standing history of Darcy's family alone is remarkable. I love the way that they also understand, it's their home and it's the children's home and not a museum, I can't wait to see the lodges. Thank you so much for bringing us there. Love from N.Y.

If I had a choice of any of the houses you've visited THIS is what I would choose. This is what I imagine when I read Georgian and Regency books. What a wonderful home they've made it. Believe at 0.18 this shows a ha-ha. I've been fascinated by ha-ha's for a long time and this sight is rather like the 'other side'. Plus it's the right time period, Georgian. Wish you had mentioned it Julie, but what a lot you were able to cover in 32 minutes. Another superb video. I love the idea of the lodges.

This house is so gorgeous, I adore the original colors. I once had cart blanche to paint a dreadful old rental and wow, did I, just using old scraps of paint, all sorts of colors and it was fabulous, quite muted colors except for a very vibrant, pale green, which made it all sing and I did one, all grey ceiling, which was fabulous, people loved it. This is such a warm, lived in House, truly lovely. One thing I have noticed in most of these wonderful old homes, is a lack of potted plants, no greenery. The Victorians had their favorites, like ferns and aspidistras. Is there a particular reason not to have potted plants, mildew, watering damages, etc? Oh, there are lovely discreet potted plants and of course no house is complete without flowers, this is just so beautiful.

When I see yet another preservation of England’s history (Scotland’s and Ireland’s too), the work, and the love being put into these projects. I get more and more resentful that King Charles III did not have these people in their robes and coronets at his coronation. Unlike the charities he had attending, these people are the future of the nations.

I love English historic homes, especially Georgian/Neoclassical ones, it’s my favorite architectural period. It’s dignified, but not overly so or grandiose like Baroque, elegant, but livable. The interiors are light and graceful. I have a vast library on the architecture and decoration about beautiful English Country Houses. My preference would be something on the scale of a Georgian rectory/vicarage, rather than a mansion. But, I’m not going to be able to afford either! Classical Greek style forever!

I noticed the morning room / study (and perhaps library), there were double doors leading into the room. I seems like I heard somewhere the reason was to keep out smells. Is that true? It seems to me to be more of a good way to insulate the room and keep it warm. Does anyone know the answer to this?
