i have 2 questions please: - why is this helo overheating during every flight? takes about 10 minutes and it would spit flames out of the engine. - is there a way i can get the original tab back instead of the ipad? thank you so much for your work.

N1 relates to engine compressor speed which draws air into the engine, this keeps the TOT down during light off not the fuel which is why low N1 causes hot start.

Great heli, unsure what I doing wrong but after a few minutes of flight all the warning lights go off and I have no engine. I know it's probably something I'm not doing right.

Curious question; in case of a hotstart, what would be the procedures to clear it ?

fuel shut off immediately, and leave the starter running to blow out as much of the gas as possible. Then refer to the POH (Pilot's Operating Handbook) for the aircraft and it will tell you if you are allowed to attempt to restart it (after allowing it to cool down over a set period) or if it cannot be used and the engine is then in the hands of the engineers to determine if you've melted the combustion chamber and needs replacing or if its ok to go again., Don't be that guy that writes off an engine for not paying attention and trying to restart the turbine too soon after the last run and not letting the residual heat dissipate sufficiently...

how do i 1) assign the idle throttle and 2) assign lever for the rotor brake please.... great vid

get to your control settings, look for the button you want to assign and click "custom" on it. In the following menu type "500" in the search bar. It should list all the available commands for the chopper. Select IdleStop Ring Release, hit Apply. Not sure if you can map the Rotor brake though

In your general x-plane settings, bump your "flight models per frame" up to 4. That will fix you up.

Probably your rotor brake is on. It's behind you, over your right shoulder...black handle.

The helicopter Hughes 500D by Brett S. is totally overrated. This helicopter is the only helicopter pinned in the X-Plane forum, although there are other helicopters which have a much higher download rate. I know the reason: Because Brett S. is the moderator of this forum and he wants to push his own helicopter. By far the best freeware helicopter Bell 429 from timber61 with 120'000 downloads is not pinned, the Hughes 500D has only 23'600 downloads.
