I say start them young, and they will be able to contribute to aviation for a long long time. Great job!!! From a former helo pilot in the Army.

WOW! What a father son experience. Your son is doing a great job. My teaching point would be to get his seating position so his cyclic forearm would rest on his thigh to support it AND to use his fingers to adjust the cyclic. Doesn't take much and you don't need to make huge movements with the cyclic to get it where you want. You fly these guys with your wrist and your fingers. It also reduces those errant imprecise movements caused by using your forearm to intentionally or unintentionally move the cyclic. Yes, I was an IP. Little late with the advice as this was 11 years ago. Did your son continue with his flying career? If he could fly that, he could fly anything. TH 55, LOB (Little Orange Bug/Bastard depending on the day), my training helo in flight school. My first demo auto was on Valentines Day...I won't say the year. For the uninitiated, you might mention "George" and the throttle. Tricky little guy to fly as you had to coordinate throttle with collective movements or you'd overspeed and "George" would kick back through the throttle. Moving on to Huey's and a turbine life was much better. Great Father's day moment. Cheers

300 is the better helicopter for instruction, the ciclic give the immediate return of action, also components with more time life x others helicopters, simple for to make overhaull and without problems or surprises, congratulations for Great Captain Howard Hughes and yours engeniers.

Still one of the best helicopters to land on a ship for Coast guard Navy or any other show it's non-s*** helicopter does what it's meant to be land take off of the metabak and get you to hospital and get you back Non-Stop it's one of the best small helicopters I've ever flown even else to see you still can survive it even if you crashed I tell it's 100% reliable helicopter

Hovering stability has nothing to do with the type of power, piston or turbine.

Lol, up & away foreward flight is easy, calm steady hover harder..always tapping light touches of compensation, like balancing a broom on your fingertip, then keeping nose pointed in one spot 75 feet ahead of ya, not drifting around..a nice "quiet" hover is a joy! 😄👍
