I still remember the first time I laid hands on this device. Some of my friends' family just returned from the us with a simlocked iphone. The only way to unlock that and flash it so it can use any sim was basically to connect two traces together so the phone could be rooted. That was the jankiest stuff I've ever pulled on one of these but it did work in the end, and the person was super happy except for the slightly bent frame. Of which I can see you also are having some trouble with :D

The first iPhone had really limited features when it was released. The App Store didn't exist until a day before the second iPhone (3G) was released so you wasn't able to install any 3rd party apps. You only had the things that the phone came with. It didn't even have video recording, MMS (popular back then), file manager, multitasking, 3G, WiFi hotspot, bluetooth file transfer (popular back then) and many other things. Nokia already had a some kind of App store on Symbian smartphones and of course you were able to get apps from web sites. There was also some Symbian UIQ smartphones from Sony etc. with touchscreen and of course Windows Mobile smartphones

The first ever smartphone was the palm’s Treo, starting from the “180º to the last model the “Pro”, (the firs iPhone was a direct competitor of this one). When palm sinked down, apple bought most of it’s product patents, the most famous was the quick silence action switch (the Treo had it at the top instead the side location on the iPhone) and the capacitative two parts touch screen. However nowadays the iPhone become a totally different gadget and it’s awesome, now it’s a referent of how a mobile phone hato be. After owning 6 different treo models, I got ,y first iPhone, my first one was the same of the video, and I loved it from the first moment, i got really amazed for the easy way to “synchronize” it whit my power book just like my iPod, and now I can simply live without apple products, and your videos every Saturday afternoon

Its not the first smartphone. The first smartphone came out in the mid 90s. It was a simon smartphone

fargeeks its the first smart smartphone tho
@fish94684 жыл бұрын
symbian and windows mobile were dumb anyway. If apple didn't make this phone, phones would be 10 years behind.

@BorisGen4 жыл бұрын
alphaFox well yeah, it’s the first iPhone, it doesn’t matter if it’s called 2g
@itsAlphaFox4 жыл бұрын
Boris G True, true, but it's a lot better than calling the 3G an iPhone 3 imo
@CarthagoMike4 жыл бұрын
Nah that Boris guy is wrong, naming *does* matter. However, as he clarified in the first few seconds, he is referring to the _first generation iPhone_ and not actually calling it the _iPhone 1_.

I do have one of these. Need to replace the screen. LCD is fine but the digitizer doesn't work. Need to find a replacement. Seems decent enough to change. Would pair nicely with my iMac G4

I love the look back. When the first iPhone came out I couldn't believe the difference from my iPod. Woah. By the time the 6s came out I had it for a while until the Note 8 and I switched. After the switch I have the note 10+. If iPhone would let me play my own mp3 tracks without iTunes, and open up the software for personality, I would go back. Maybe.
