I'm not a hateful man but there is a perverse joy in arsenals failures. I'm an Everton fan, but as I am 32 I was at my football fan peak during the wenger years. So for me, like so many others, arsenal were my second favourite team. They played beautiful football, they played with an undeniable football..... Charisma, is the only word I can think of. They were a magical team, several magical teams in fact. Then the funds dried up and the more vociferous parts of the fanbase abused and degraded wenger. It was truly disgusting treatment of a great man, a great arsenal man. Since then I have smiled as you slid in to the mire. I like you a lot high, you are genuine, which seems rare. And I don't like to see you suffer. That is my only regret in this situation.

You have to feel for this man, or I do at least, being a Gooner myself, as no doubt most viewers here probably are. I've been through all this though, all the anger, rage and ranting, then came out the other side. I've got something like 20 years on Hugh, your blood doesn't tend to run quite as hot as you begin to get older and these days I realise that I kind of gave up on Arsenal a long time ago. When did this cancer set in? It's hard to say anymore, it's been eating away for so damn long! Certainly it started well in advance of Wenger's departure, probably somewhere around '03 or '04, so nigh on 20 years! That would mean that it started not long after the unbeaten season. Maybe that was a curse in disguise? Perhaps we thought we'd made to the top of the mountain and didn't need to try anymore? Perhaps we just got fat, dumb and happy, as the saying goes. I don't know, I can only surmise. The writing was certainly on the wall 9 years ago, however, when Wenger claimed that qualification for The UCL was as good as a trophy!! But that wasn't the boss speaking, was it? That wasn't the football man! It was the money men and the water carriers of the sacred shareholders, using him like a ventriloquist's puppet! Like a locomotive going at full tilt and then suddenly cutting to engine idle, we coasted for a long time and the changes were barely perceptible for a while. We made top 4 year year after year comfortably, but the serious challenging for the absolute summit quickly subsided, although we always felt like we were in touching distance, so there was always a possibly *next* season, you never know. Then, as we started to lose more momentum, the top 4 finishes started to get more difficult until eventually were fighting just to get that final spot. Then, inevitably, came the season that we just couldn't make it, the incline was too steep and our speed, now just too slow. Like anything left untreated or unchecked, eventually its effects are there for all to see! Who was it that said, "You can ignore reality but you can't ignore the consequences of ignoring reality"? It's something I remember seeing somewhere, once. I was a North Bank regular from the tail end of the '70's all the way through to the end in '06 and I saw out most of the first two seasons at the bowl. Then life changed somewhat, personal life and career choices took me far enough away from London that regular attendance became more and more difficult until finally, I became and still remain priced out of the market, so to speak. So yeah, I've seen some lean times but My God, I have also been witness to some of the finest football this league has ever seen! There were days when you would turn up at Highbury and you just *knew*, you could *feel* it! You just knew that we had 11 players on that park that were just not going to permit anything but victory! It was a spirit exemplified by so many, Tony, Rocky, Lee, Nigel, Micky, Patrick, Manu, Thierry, Dennis...the list goes on!! Like I said, I've lost sight now of when we started to roll over. We became a selling club, a feeder club for those once in awe of us until we became what we are now, a soulless, ambitionless shell of what we once were and it's a very, very long way back from here, not that we even look like turning around to even try and find our way back. I'm saddened beyond adequate words to say that the trajectory that we've been on for all these years only leads to one fate and we've already flirted with the possibility of it!! It's painful to watch but then slow deaths are often the worst to witness! But mark this, if things do indeed continue to slide in their current direction, watch for the KSE cut and run, because cut and run they will!!

Chelsea were mocked yearly for their loan system and they way treated youth players, but you must admit now, they are probably the best run club on the planet, youth players making it into the starting 11 like Reece James, Mason Mount, recently Trevoh Chalobah getting the nod from Tuchel, and even then their youth players who dont start for Chelsea get excellent chances at other progressive clubs, and they start for those clubs too, Livramento has been excellent for the saints, Tammy has got two assists on his debut under Jose in Rome. Chelsea offload players with ease, and attract world class signings if needed. Its come full circle from being mocked with their youth loan army. its still flawed but this is as good as it gets.

Arsenal ain’t what it use to be but this level is to low, we can’t recover from buying for the future because it’s too risky and it’s not promised. If we don’t get a new manage in now it will be too late, the Amazon series will be a good watch to see the club from the inside but it will show the world that we are really a mess and no tactics. We put hopes in ESR, saka and the the youth but deep down their average at best but we big them up like gods. I’m not an Arsenal fan, and people can say what they like about Arsene Wenger but for the neutrals. That guy is Arsenal football club, the most successful the most feared that club has ever been or will be, in the early days when he saw the patterns to get foreign talented players into his team at small costs, and develop a playing style and an attitude to preparation of his athletes that would revolutionise and change the way the English game was played forever. So the guy papered over the cracks near the end of his tenure to protect his bosses, but the droves of directionless platitudes I see calling him out, are an insult to Arsene, his legacy, Arsenal football club and the real fans. A bit of getting your house in order might be necessary here, it’s always beneficial to know where you’ve come from and those that have paved the way for you.

The fan base were put into a 'holding pattern' waiting for the 'youth' to deliver and for the day when other elite clubs 'paid the price' for spending money on transfers. Obviously, that day never arrived. The parasite owners always intended to extract the maximu $ and then sell on. It was all lies. There was no success at the end of the rainbow. The other clubs were not wasteful, they were in fact investing in an expanding market. Everything they invested returned a profit and everything Arsenal did not invest catapulted the playing staff backwards. So, today Arsenal are as many years behind as they used enriching themselves and lying to their base. Maybe 15 years? Take off this year. Maybe 14?

The calls that some Arsenal fans make for Wenger to return are not it. He backed Kroenke over Usmanov and shielded Kroenke for years. He did an incredible job as Arsenal manager for a long time, but he started to make horrible tactical decisions and horrible signings that still haunt the club to this day.
