It's nice to see my name there, hopefully, in the future, I will support more. This could be very helpful in a couple of shot I had to compose a couple months back for a tv show, I had a bad situation about the VFX supervisor, he didn't care too much for the noise of the shots which was a real pain that almost I have to roto the scene.
@HugosDesk

No problem, and thanks so much for supporting the channel, it is very appreciated. Sometimes the VFX sup won't have control over ISO settings. Unfortunately, many DOPs use ISO very irresponsible in VFX shots so it may not be his fault. But It is always a pain when you need to roto so much. Frustrating.

keylight is for core and ibk is for edges, using only one keyer (specially on a complex shot) wont get you far.

For the animated crop, there is a more efficient way to do it. Basically you can use a curvetool, and it will provide a pixel accurate bounding box that you can expand a bit with an adjustBBox node. You can also use the nukescripts.autocrop() python command (by using the x key)
@HugosDesk
@HugosDesk 6 жыл бұрын
Yes true but I will be honest, a lot of times I just don’t even bother with the curvetool and I just do it by hand. I find that with simple camera movement like this shot it’s faster.

Don't give up mate, keep going. Remember I also started in AE. The best way is to "force" a project with Nuke and uninstall AE for the duration of that project. That helps a lot.

Hi Hugo, Thank you for the amazing tutorials. Before I go forward with my questions I would like to warn you that I am quite new to NUKE. I need to key out models/ figure from a WHITE BG. The shoot was done for different purposes than what we end up using it for. How would you proceed in this case? Is it even possible to do it? Thank you in advance.

I have a question, how do you know which nodes to use, for example how you know whether to use the "channel merge" and not the "multiply" node and vice versa, you test all the nodes to see the results?
@HugosDesk
@HugosDesk 4 жыл бұрын
Well all the nodes have a reason to exist in Nuke. They all have a specific function. For example the channel merge has created to merge single channels. The multiply node is for multiplying values like on grading or between 2 different layers with sets of RGB. You know what I mean?

why do you need a log2lin and the reversal towards the reformat ?
@HugosDesk
@HugosDesk 6 жыл бұрын
At some point we had a very aggressive sharpening filter on the reformat options. We eventually changed it back to Cubic so we could have removed the Log2Lin. I use this technique to prevent broken pixels in the darker areas. Some filters modes have a lot of sharpening and can produce some artefacts.
@polymonger

arrr alright, that makes sense now.

@gulubidulu 6 жыл бұрын
Yup, when you use a filter like sinc4, lanczos4 or lanczos6, you will definitely see the difference. In some cases, you might want to check if you have negative values, because even with this trick, it is never perfect.
