Disadvantages of having a 4k tablet. - Wrong scaling in some software, because the screen is not big enough you probably are going to use a 200% scale or you could use 100% but will make you blind, especially for the text. - Middle tier to high tier pc is what you will need to run this tablet, the reason is that you will be using 4 times bigger most of the things, for example, you will need a good video card to handle 4k, brushes will be 4 times bigger this is a real problem with captured brushes so you will need more ram, just to be safe I recommend an 8 cores CPU minimum for this tablet. - If its a Displayport connection, welcome to the nightmare of moving monitors arrangements each time you turn the tablet Off, this was a real mess, the reason is that DisplayPort monitors are plug and play. Windows will flip a coin to see if it remembers the orientation of the monitors. Get an HDMI cable version. I just had to mention all the disadvantages that people probably didn't know before buying this great tablet. Great video I really love the glove dance, keep them coming.

QHD resolution with a smaller price tag would be the sweet spot for me!
@queertales3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I find that around 140-150 pixels per inch (PPI) for a drawing dislay is enough. QHD on a 16 inch would give 195 PPI, which is great. I have used the 13HD cintiq, which has a PPI of 170, which is more than enough. The cintiq 27 QHD only has a PPI of a 109, which I find a bit low on a drawing display. For a normal display that you keep at an around an arms length, 109 is okay, but a drawing dislay you use closer to your eyes, the pixels become a bit too visible.
@FlameRat_YehLon3 жыл бұрын
@@queertales IMO any pen display approaching 300dpi is basically just another beast because the 100% zoom would be displayed almost life size. Without such high DPI you would have to choose between seeing the full image and seeing the full detail. Though otherwise, QHD is not that bad of a choice, and it's certainly much cheaper (both in screen cost and in PC spec cost). (And now think of it, alternatively maybe just buy 2 1080p 12 inch displays of the same brand and use them at the same time, which would probably cost the same as if there's a QHD 16 inch display)
@zhangkairuan72113 жыл бұрын
15.6 inch laptop comes with a QHD screen becomes a thing in 2021, so that is very reasonably for us to havea a QHD kamvas 16. But I really doubt that the price tag will com down because a 4K 15.6 inch LCD screen only coasts around 100USD while HUION raised the price tag significantly......

Honestly, a new Huion lover here. I used for almost 5 years a 21.50 UGEE tablet, big huge crystal there. But did the job. I ordered and returner a Huion Kamvas 20, the screen was awfull with lot of ghosting. Now with a little bit more of budget I own a Huion Kamvas 22 Plus, (499€) and OH BOY! THAT IS Awesome! Sooner or later you would want to draw a bigger screen so you can draw with your elbow or arm, the colors needs a little tweaking here and there, but once you have it... BOOM! Best tablet ever. On the resolution: You SHOULD be drawing at least with a distance from your hand to your elbow with the screen. So, at that distance, HD for me it's cool enough. I think that feature of 4k is really not necessary to do art. Good or bad. Sam out! ^__^

Depends on what you want to pay. I honestly wouldn't buy the cintiq 16 when the Huion Kamvas 16 2021 is much better and much cheaper. If you don't want any pixilated art, then the Kamvas 16 4k is the one for you. And at that price point, I'd honestly just upgrade to the 16 pro plus 4k for the better color gambut and contrast ratio. However, wait until it appears on Amazon if you can. Huion is having issues receiving stock, so nobody's product has even shipped yet, 2 weeks later. And yes, the pen is almost just as good (only difference is a little wobble, but that's why we have pen stabilization), and the drivers are perfectly fine.

I have the 16 Pro plus. I like it a lot. My only two gribes are the menus and tools can get a bit too small and the lack of VESA mount points on the back. Fortunately I use a program, which can be scaled. But it might be a problem for those using a program, where the menus and tools can not be scaled. Else I really love this unit. It is not too big and it is not too small. And I have made a small platform to get it a little higher up, so I do not have to bend over the tablet. I thought of the 24" 4K version to start with. But I found it too expensive and big for my office desk. And this gives the same resolution but is smaller and fit the length of my arms very well. Besides, you do not need to use the power plug, if your computer USB-C output has enough power.

I got one of these and it’s really better then my Wacom cintiq pro 16.

2:17 Huion's website says that "you *may* need to connect the power cable when using USB-C" because of the 4k resolution's power usage... so is it not enough to power it with just a laptop? Is it enough to power it via USB-C when in pen tablet mode (with the display off)? I do plan to eventually upgrade to a larger 4k display (when my workspace allows for it haha) and was thinking I could continue using this as a portable option since it's light and fits perfectly in my laptop bag.
@yangxiao41533 жыл бұрын
The biggest issue I found on the cable, is that the USB-C one too short... only 1m and that leads to me moving my PC on top of the desk. Other than that, perfect. (I had a Kamvas 16 recently)

I have the original Artisul D16 from November 2017 (I actually pre-ordered it). Has worked flawlessly since getting it, but now I think I need an upgrade since it's only 1080p and the colour accuracy and brightness is noticeably worse than my BenQ monitor and MBP 16. When I first bought it the colour accuracy and res didn't matter too much since it was just for drawing as a hobby, but at work I've went from "the guy with Photoshop" to "the principal UI designer" recently and the D16 just doesn't cut the mustard now. After watching this review I've went and put the Plus model in my shopping basket along with Huion's KD100 and Backback; I can officially blame you for the four figure hole in my pocket. :P

the price while high, seems to be reasonable if compared with a wacom model of the same specs if they ever release one, which would probably be going for an asking price of 1500 to 2000 for being 4k

Years ago wacom made one Cintiq 16 pro, and yeah you were right about the price.

Great review and this looks like a really good alternative to a Wacom while not comporomising. I was thinking about waiting for the new iPad Pro but I honestly think this would be a better fit for my needs, allowing me to access apps on both Windows and macOS to give me a richer set of creative tools.

Im exited, because xppen is about to release their 4k screen too! I’m sure they are going to send that model to him. I already have a 2nd gen artist 22, but still I love his reviews :3

No, I don't have any plans to because it doesn't fit my art style. But there are some other KZbinrs like Borodante who has a really great video about it.

I think that 4K for a 15.6 inch display is a little overkill, but if it's accurate and looks good then why not? Personally though, I'd like to see Huion refresh the Kamvas 20 or Pro 20 ( 19.5 inch displays ) with a 1440p or 4K resolution. The higher resolution makes more sense for the larger pen displays, so they deliver more workspace while also looking less pixelly than the current ones with only 1080p. Part of me expects Huion to overlook the 20s in that regard, so it's probably more likely that the 22s or 24 will get the 4K treatment, which will still be a welcome development.

Is there a drawing tablet that DOESNT need to be plugged by a computer??

You should talk more about the drivers and software in your reviews, this is the breaking point for me and why I returned a cheap drawing monitor to stay on a Wacom drawing tablet.
@dinoadventure53363 жыл бұрын
Oh? May I please hear your tips on this, I'm absolutely torn between Huion Kamvas Pro 16 4k or just... a regular wacom cintiq 16, but I heard bad things about both so I'm worried as to which one I should get.
@TommyCrosby3 жыл бұрын
@@dinoadventure5336 I have a Wacom Intuos tablet and in Wacom drivers you can configure different settings per apps as you would expect but the XP-PEN driver had only one system wide settings and it's a major setback that goes untold in a lot of reviews. I also had to reinstall the driver at least once because it stopped detecting the screen. Alternative brands now make great products but the drivers are limiting them. You can still use them, you will do have to change your app settings to fit the tablet instead. It's up to you. Just to be fair, I also had my fair share of driver issues over the years with Wacom, so it's not perfect either.

The only major issue seems to be the screen being non touch. Use the touch screen all the time on the Wacom 16 pro. and felt tips. But it's so close now.

Can you compare it to wacom cintiq pro 16? I am just considering buying cintiq pro 16 today, but I see this video. Kinda holding me back to buy cintiq pro 16, especially when you say wacom doesn't produce it anymore. Should I buy wacom cintiq pro 16 (new items are still available in my country), or this huion? What about this huion compatibility with m1 macbook? Thank you.

I believe Cintiq pro 16 is available on wacom's site.

I love the idea of a digital art pen-display, I even had one of a while but even that little bit of lag/drag ruins it for me. The Ipad pros don't have any lag (or it's so small that it's imperceptible) and they feel great to draw on. I just can't afford one :P So I'm still waiting for the right partner... I hope they solve all those pesky issues eventually. To me drawing is more about the experience than the result

Huion is a valuable alternative to Wacom. The only reason I don't switch to Huion for now is that I'd need to uninstall Wacom drivers before installing Huion's and that'd mean not being able to use my wacom tablet anymore

Have you reviewed the Kamvas Pro 16 2.5k? I don't see it on your video list. Curious to know if it's a serious drop-off screenwise from the 4k...

Have a cintiq 16. Wore off the resistance coating. Bought a paper feel screen protector and worn that smooth too.Waiting for etched glass from their competitors. I’d probably wear the coating off this one too. Wacom said “keep my third party screen protector on and use the felt nibs. “ I thought Wacom just had a brexit / eu issue with some products but it seems they have discontinued them.

Brad your reviews are always useful. HUION have come out with a lot of pens across their year on year upgrades, have you tried one of their version 3 pens on an older tablet? Do they work, I know they say they only work with latest tablets, but other things often work across historic versions. It would be interesting to know.
