I watched this when it first came out. Beautiful movie. One of my favorites. It takes a village to raise a village. The dancing is a wonderful mode by which to tell this story.

I watched this recently because a site said if you enjoyed Megane and Kamome Diner, you might like Hula Girls. What a joke. It's like saying "If you liked The Godfather and Citizen Kane, you might enjoy Plan 9 From Outer Space, because it's also an American movie."😂 Hula Girls is a cheesy cutesy children's movie with horrible acting, a predictable storyline, obvious character arcs, and the required schmaltzy montage scene! What a rubbish film! The opposite of Kamome Diner and Megane.
