Huldah, one of the seven women prophets, is identified by the rabbis as a descendent of Rahab and Joshua and a relative of Jeremiah. The rabbis describe her husband as a righteous man and state that it was on account of him that she was gifted with prophecy. Huldah, married to Shallum, keeper of the king's robes, was a scholar of high rank in Jerusalem. She was a woman of authority, and people listened to what she had to say. The rabbis also explore her encounter with King Josiah, who believed that she would not be as harsh as her male counterparts. However, Huldah proved him wrong, acting harshly and even arrogantly towards the king. Another tradition records her prophesying alongside Jeremiah and Zephaniah. The midrash and Tosefta record that a gate was named after her in Jerusalem and that she was buried within the city. According to William E. Phipps, Huldah is the first person to declare certain writings to be Holy Scripture.

Amen. And if we read "all the words of this book," we see God using females to prophesy and teach many times. Complementarians base their doctrine largely on one misunderstood passage from Paul to Timothy. But Paul gave instructions to Corinth for women prophesying in church! Be careful basing your doctrine on one verse! You might end up with no hands and no eyes after reading Matthew 5:28-30!

I wonder if Hulda was the teacher. This is the second quarter, the second house of prophets. It is possible that she has already been through the four. That could mean she is now returned to the beginning to teach the newer students. Jesus taught us that when we come to that place as "sons of God," we are to return in humility to be a servant. This could be why a king would seek the advice of a woman. As a son of God, a woman becomes as a "son" and can hold position as a man.What happened, i wonder, to the fourth quarter where Samuel had been. Elijah visited the prophet schools and i don't think they were then in the same quarters ~ were they?. I wish i could understand. I know the account of lost asses names four quarters. Saul's Edomite servant advises Saul that there is in this quarter a seer who can tell Saul where his asses are. Those four quarters were geopraphical. Nonetheless, the great prophet Samuel may have the highest school of prophets in his quarter. Is that Arimethea? Or the area of the high place? And why go to the second college of prophets, and not the fourth? I guess you have the same question.
