As a prophetess, Huldah delivered an oracle of tremendous significance. When the Book of the Law was discovered during renovations on Solomon's Temple, King Josiah sent his advisors to consult with Huldah. She prophesied that judgment would come to Judah for their idolatry, but that Josiah himself would be spared due to his repentance. This prophecy helped spur Josiah's reforms in Judah.
Huldah is a unique figure as one of the few female prophets named in the Old Testament. As an authoritative voice, she counseled the king and priests. Her legacy stands out for how she exercised religious authority in a male-dominated culture. Even the king and his advisors sought her counsel, indicating the power and influence she held as a prophetess.

Huldah, prophetess, whose husband, Shallum, was keeper of the wardrobe in the time of King Josiah. It was to her that Josiah had recourse when Hilkiah found a book of the law to procure an authoritative opinion on it. (2 Kings 22:14; 2 Chronicles 34:22) Huldah was the wife of the Priest who served in the Temple. All Jews were educated in the Ten Books of Moses. She knew the WORD of God but did not advance herself to be above her husband, a Priest in the Temple of God.

I love this so much but I get so thrown by men telling women to this day that they can NOT be prophetess or even preach due to the 1 Timonthy 2:12-15. Please help me understand, is this a stumbling block? What is more authoritative being a Pastor, Teacher or a Prophet or Prophetess. Biblically a prophet or prophetess is God's direct messenger like Moses. God speaks directly to such persons. Sadly many who hold such office today were not called or sent by God. In referring to women in service Paul never said God said a woman could not be a Pastor or Teacher. He said that he, Paul, forbade it. Paul stated that he was one who upheld Jewish customs. God sees everyone as His servants to be used however He desires. We're coworkers. Notice that the functioning priests and the king had to ask the woman what God said. Huldah is one of several females used by God. In Macah 6:4 God stated that He sent Moses, Aaron and Miriam to take Israel from Egypt to Canaan. May I ask whose report should we believe.

We cannot elevate Paul's personal opinion of female Believers above what Jesus commanded us. Women are gifted to speak the truths of Scripture, in the same way that men are. Do not presume that because you are a male, that the Spirit of Truth is now elevated in you above the same Spirit that lives in the Woman. Understand the Scriptures properly and then teach them with wisdom.
