The rings they had in the WWF in the 80s were also hard as rock with very little give, I'm sure that contributed a lot on it's own to his hips and spinal compression from all those leg drops.
@theboxingboy74224 ай бұрын
Blame that on Kevin dunne. Because the reason the rings are harder and didn't have much give compared to the ones that used to be in WCW and ECW is because he didn't like the way they sounded on television when guys would bump so to make the ring quieter they had to make the surface harder.
@mrmoviemanic128 күн бұрын
I think that's true too. Like today's rings are not easy to bump on by any means, but they're more well off than back in the day, reason why you almost see no one jumping off the top rope back then (and you didn't need too, to get a reaction as a lot more people still believed it was kayfabe real)

*FUN FACT:* Dave Goelz (Gonzo’s puppeteer) has suffered a number of injuries due to the way Muppet performers must hold up their arms for extended periods and contort into small spaces. These include four shoulder surgeries and a hip replacement. That just goes to show that any job where you’re not sitting still, deserves the utmost respect. Never underestimate a man who plays with puppets, because in that profession, you’re putting in just as much blood, sweat and tears as a wrestler or boxer. Therefore, the men on Jim Henson’s payroll are just as masculine as Hulk Hogan and Muhammad Ali.

It's fake in the sense it is rehearsed but it is still high level combat sport who only a few can compete. In that sense they deserve all the respect. If it wasn't fake, the moves wouldn't be beautiful and no one will watch. I used to be fascinated by wrestling as a teenager and wrestlers who could act were my favorites. For example most people don't watch real wrestling because real combat is practical but ugly. It's both acting and a high level sport.

Tbh it's the amount of matches that can cause the issues. Imagine putting you're body through trauma constantly for 4-5 times a week for years on end it's just gonna add up. Like Steve Austin said you only have so many bumps on your bump card before the issues begin

Also why is wrestling all year round? All sports have an off season all tv shows have an off season. Yet wrestling nope. The star wrestles until he’s injured then it’s next man up
