That would've been a perfect send off. Still my favorite Hulk WrestleMania match to this day (Tied with WrestleMania 3). The Pop the crowd in Toronto gave Hogan was incredible! I remember seeing this as a young man in my early 20's, at a friend's house. We all pooled our money together to get the PaperView. I became a kid again during that match, and always do whenever I revisit it; which I do frequently.😊

The rings they had in the WWF in the 80s were also hard as rock with very little give, I'm sure that contributed a lot on it's own to his hips and spinal compression from all those leg drops.
@theboxingboy7422
@theboxingboy7422 4 ай бұрын
Blame that on Kevin dunne. Because the reason the rings are harder and didn't have much give compared to the ones that used to be in WCW and ECW is because he didn't like the way they sounded on television when guys would bump so to make the ring quieter they had to make the surface harder.
@mrmoviemanic1
@mrmoviemanic1 28 күн бұрын
I think that's true too. Like today's rings are not easy to bump on by any means, but they're more well off than back in the day, reason why you almost see no one jumping off the top rope back then (and you didn't need too, to get a reaction as a lot more people still believed it was kayfabe real)

I think Hogan should have stopped wrestling after wrestlemania 19. But at the same time I get it. When you do something for soo many years, it's in your blood and it becomes hard to let go of. This is why a lot of wrestlers end up coming out of retirement after a few years.

So let's look at the real hulk Hogan. Stole his whole gimmick from superstar billy Graham, his words not mine. Almost singlehandedly? So Andre had nothing to do with it? WrestleMania doesn't turn into anything with piper, captain lou who was the start of the rock and wrestling connection and so on. He buried people, refused to put people over even when it would have been better and helped the business forward. People need to stop praising him and stop giving him a platform.

*FUN FACT:* Dave Goelz (Gonzo’s puppeteer) has suffered a number of injuries due to the way Muppet performers must hold up their arms for extended periods and contort into small spaces. These include four shoulder surgeries and a hip replacement. That just goes to show that any job where you’re not sitting still, deserves the utmost respect. Never underestimate a man who plays with puppets, because in that profession, you’re putting in just as much blood, sweat and tears as a wrestler or boxer. Therefore, the men on Jim Henson’s payroll are just as masculine as Hulk Hogan and Muhammad Ali.

It's fake in the sense it is rehearsed but it is still high level combat sport who only a few can compete. In that sense they deserve all the respect. If it wasn't fake, the moves wouldn't be beautiful and no one will watch. I used to be fascinated by wrestling as a teenager and wrestlers who could act were my favorites. For example most people don't watch real wrestling because real combat is practical but ugly. It's both acting and a high level sport.

Roofing, Demos, Trench digging even cutting trees down. Not so much tree work an anymore. Body can’t handle big trees. But I always heard old timers talk about the break down of the body. That’s why now I charge a lot more than I use to. Cause I’m killing my self every time I work. But I enjoy the work so it’s a trade off. Poor health for good mental health. For now, ha.

It was the old school mentality; travel, the 300 plus days of wrestling and sometimes multiple matches a day, the gym, bar fights, drugs, alcohol and life stresses. It was too hard and too fast and we have lost many wrestlers before their time

Very true I have neck, back & knee problems no joke but he’s been in pain longer than I have. So you just roll with the punches & try not to focus on it you’ll be ok cuz alternative is you start relying on substances to take the edge off or remove it completely by increasing the dosage & next thing you know your an addict like so many wrestlers were

'embellish' fudge word for lie...yeah great for your enjoyment growing up..but in my experience when someone lies repeatedly there is always some poor sucker who had their reputation ruined by bit the scumbag who was prepared to lie 'to get ahead'...Hulk is that man...lie about you own accomplishments is one thing..lying about others and claiming credit is wrong

Tbh all wrestlers have wrestled for too long, the shit is crazy, i have no idea why the WWE has not invested in better, safer ring technology. Use rubber instead of wood planks, have more springs on the ring to absorb more of the impact, i don't know but do something, the fact dudes need to take pain pills after work is a major problem

Tbh it's the amount of matches that can cause the issues. Imagine putting you're body through trauma constantly for 4-5 times a week for years on end it's just gonna add up. Like Steve Austin said you only have so many bumps on your bump card before the issues begin
