Really great video Sharkee. Like this new format. As someone else already mentioned, I think this is the one of the better ways for humans to go. But it sure gets you thinking. If you would be one of those children created by the A.I with no real body, wouldn't you feel trapped? Also, if you can be anything you want, wouldn't you miss the feeling of accomplishment? But on the other hand, as you're only a peace of code I guess that part could easily be rewritten. Shit just goes weird after a certain point... and that's why we love science :D

This reminds me of "The Last Question" by Isaac Azimov. My absolute favorite bit of fiction ever written, along with "The Last Answer". I also think that the future will probably look a lot like this. Probably slightly changed time scales and minor details, but I think a lot of it will look just like this. Even the "no longer interested in the outside Universe" portion, as I think in deep time, if we realize there is nothing like hyperspace or extra dimensions or what have you to explore, then we will just lose interest in explore something else. We know we can only get so far in the Universe, before we simply can't reach anything else because we can't go fast enough, our descendants would probably just explore logic or what have you until local heat death makes the whole thing moot. Great video. Glad I subbed a little while ago so I could watch this.

Excellent video, Sharkee. Isaac Asimov wrote a short story in 1956 (The Last Question) that followed your scenario fairly closely. However, as the universe is dying the virtual human/computer/entity, who by now occupies the entire universe, declares "LET THERE BE LIGHT!" & the Big Bang occurs, creating an entire new universe. Thus, Asimov elevates human consciousness to godlike status. I love your videos & hope you get many, many more subscribers.

That was awesome to think about! Immortality has always been a dream of humanity, but I think it's silly to fear death. Even if we can "download our consciousness", it's selfish to live on aimlessly because there is no such thing as eternity for us. We need to move on and make room for the next batch of young minds. Ambition, love, heartbreak, anger, fear... this is what makes us humans and this is what fuels innovation and keeps us "human". Only the future can tell, but I'm happy I have only 60-80 years left because I'm going to make the best of it.

Exurb1a had a similar outlook on the future, one in which humanity replaced flesh with electronics and settled more with simulated experiences than physically living in reality. In this of course, not only do humans and A.I. merge (much like in that one 1995 Ghost in the Shell film), but humanity entirely merges into a singular entity that expands outwards into space to convert all mass to energy, and eventually meet other post-biological civilizations. Much like in the Last Question, it seems everything will eventually fade to black as the seemingly eternal dream comes to a close. I wonder though, if there are other energy sources beyond what we know, energies not just including nuclear fusion, black holes, and matter conversion, but perhaps energies that'd only exist in dimensions beyond our own, perhaps accessing timelines, universes, and the things between universes.
