In the light of the researches known to date, the oldest Homo erectus fossils in Eurasia have been found in China. One of them is the Homo erectus pekinensis fossils found near Beijing in 1921 by Swedish archaeologist Johan Gunnar Andersson.
This fossil is one of the most important discoveries of the 20th century. Later, the world was shocked when Chinese archaeologist Pei Wenzhong claimed that his excavations in 1929 had uncovered other parts of the "Beijing Man" skull. However, while the studies on the fossil were not completed, most of the fossil was lost during the Second World War for reasons that were not officially explained.
The Pekingese Man is among the most famous fossils in the history of science due to its disappearance story. There are lots of conspiracy theories. Some say that the fossils were lost as a result of the sinking of the ship in the Pacific Ocean while being taken to the USA, while others say that the Japanese seized the ship and naturally the fossils, and then changed hands many times.
Like every child, I was a curious and inquisitive child. I can only say that growing up and becoming an adult did not stop me from this sense of discovery. Sea, nature, history and science have been my interests since my childhood that kept my desire to live alive.
If you manage to remain passionate about the sea, nature, history and science, regardless of the time and conditions; It means we are together on this journey.
