Human Development (2013)

Not a real history video, but I've wanted to do this for a while.
A list of all countries by the official Human Devopment Index.
Information:
data.undp.org/...
NOTES:
Marshall Islands, Monaco, Nauru, North Korea, San Marino, Somalia, and Tuvalu have no estimated values for 2013, so they use their 2009 calculations instead.
South Sudan has never been estimated, so it is excluded from the list.
Countries with a "*" have limited recognition (Kosovo, Palestine, Taiwan)

It always bothered me how dependencies had to be given their own entities. Why can't we just stop at 196 countries? xD

There are a lot of dependencies with some sort of autonomy. And because I found that statistics of these dependencies as well, I decided I might as well include them.

I understand limited recognition countries but why there are colonies too? It is labeled as Country name. Remove the 35 dependencies

It doesn't even have all the limited recognition countries (Abkhazia, S. Ossetia, Transnistria, Nagorno-Kharabakh) which all act as sovereign states.

How did this list change so much, Turkey is 69th (0.759) right now while in this video 128th (0.722).

This video uses 2013 data, Turkey has 0.722 HDI in 2013. In 2014 like you said, Turkey has 0.759 HDI. And this video includes Non-UN members

Bosniantoptens It's not just politics. It's how well-developed a country is. Bosnia is certainly more developed than most African countries and a lot of other countries. Also, this can't be a mistake, considering I got all information from the official website of the United Nations. Everything is accurate.

It's honestly also weird that Italy and Spain were ahead of UK. It doesn't make sense actually. Same for Finland being so low. I wonder what are the criterias for human development, for example in gdp per capita Japan and South Korea are far lower than France/UK... etc but it seems they are higher in human development.

Bosniantoptens "Western Sahara" is not a country. "Western Sahara" is the AREA that Morocco and the unrecognized country, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, claim sovereignty over. And I did not include it because the UN never calculated the HDI for that area, just like South Sudan.
