Man I gotta disagree with eyes and ears, they should be vice versa! The eye is full of design flaws, while the ear (the cochlea in particular) is an engineering masterpiece! Eye: backwards retina? Blind spot? Get a grip! Ear: performs Fourier analysis for sound signals. Integrates vestibular system to the same organ to save space. And don't get me started on sound localization! These bad boys can't orient like eyes and are basically 1-dimensional, but they team up and tell you where the sound is coming from based on microsecond-scale time difference! Dude, describing what ears do would sound damn-near magical if we didn't have them ourselves. I mean they allow you to remote-sense things you can't touch or even see based solely on changes in air pressure. You can detect a predator behind a bush because they stepped on a twig. You can hear your neighbor banging behind a solid wall. Ears are a literal wall-hack.
@rjfaber1991 Жыл бұрын
Not to mention that the inner ear also acts like a gyroscope and allows us to detect changes in motion. Admittedly that makes it responsible for sea sickness, car sickness and simulation sickness, but that's more the brain's fault for interpreting signals wrong than it is the inner ear's.

As someone with a uterus and ovaries, yes those fuckers are wonders of nature, but they also cause so much PAIN. Endometriosis is one of the most painful chronic afflictions people can have (and I stand by that assessment), and the fact that the ovaries don’t always make all the eggies go to the uterus but sometimes let them wander out into the abdominal cavity to cause ectopic pregnancies which KILL, make ovaries and the uterus bad design badboys. Plus, who invented periods?? Why not just reabsorb all that blood instead of becoming an open and bleeding internal wound each month? Ridiculous! Bad design. D tier.

I disagree with the liver's god ranking. While it does have more than 500 individual functions from detox to metabolism, it is also one of the most vulnerable organs in cancer mets. Due to the dual blood supply from the portal hepatic vein and portal artery. This exposes it to metastases of tumors from all over the body including bones, the gut, lungs, breast ca etc. The worst part is that with its lack of extensive innervation specifically pain receptors, these tumors are only picked up when they grow to the capsule or when the primary tumors in the original organs start to act up. I would therefore rank it as S tier at best.

Edit: details might be worth a read. It literally felt like I had 1000 fish hooks on lines snagged in my back, and someone was grabbing the lines at random, and yanking on them until my skin would pull 2" off of my body. My roommates came home to find me running around the house, yelping like a burned puppy, scratching my back with a bath towel that I had dumped a whole bottle of useless aloe lotion all over. Thank Christ for psoriasis in that moment - one roommate's girlfriend had psoriasis and always carried a tube of Rx grade skin cream, and saved me from losing my mind. From a Physio-perspective I'd say skeletal muscle deserves an A-spot, because we don't actually suffer much problems with them and when they do they heal well, blame that more on tendons and other structures. A truly undervalued benefit of skeletal muscle though is how adaptable it is, not only can they grow larger or smaller depending on what you demand out of them, but they can also adapt for your desire of strength vs endurance. If they get knots or what have you, just massage them and it feels amazing, really a very simply organ to work with DIY without the need of a specialist or fancy lab-equipment.
