Very interesting, and with good data to have an idea of the energy efficiency 👍

Looks like a ton of fun. And pretty darn fast for human-powered on water. Any more progress on this? Would also love to see a better video.

Bravo! The future is heavy, but good to see is still in our hands ;) well done 👍🏻👍🏻

Wow! This looks amazing, as soon as I saw a hydro foil petal boat I have to have one! You should put on a power meter crankset and see how much power it takes, would be interesting, I have my doubts that an unfit person has the power needed to raise out of the water
@erikmueller35062 жыл бұрын
An average cyclist will maintain an output of 100-200 watts for an hour or two. It says the minimum pedal power to maintain the hydrofoil is 200 watts, so this is on the high end of the range of what an average cyclist can steadily output with their legs. Unfortunately it's also incredibly expensive and delicate looking, so there isn't any easy cheap way to make it easier to pedal. As of now, I don't see any easy way to ahcieve a consumer level hydroplane that can be pedaled on the surface of the water for long periods of time, the way that a person rides a bike for long periods of time.

Hey, this looks great. Have you got any more information on how you designed it all?

Pretty cool. I hope you've been able to keep improving it.

do you have like a contact information?... I would be your first client for sure... what materials do you guys used to build it?

Всё класс и супер! Одно НО, надувные баллоны! Это супер не безопасно.

Hi there, interested in redesigning our solar powered boat to have a hydrofoil. Would love to chat with you about prop selection/rpm first and foremost, then the hydrofoil itself. Additionally, where are you located?

How is this different than the Orignal MIT version? Add a small electric motor assist so that human power needed is cut in half and there would be a big market, especially if it could fold up easily.

Your average person cam put out about 500 watts of energy (a half a horsepower)...
@recurrenTopology3 жыл бұрын
@@3DLasers For several seconds maybe. 500 watts is around the 5 minute max for professional cyclists.

Maybe a little battery, just enough to boost people during the take-off phase but then disconnect during cruise.

@h20flyers If you are still monitoring this, I would love to talk sometime. I am working on a similar project.
@fourbypete9 жыл бұрын
how hard would you say you are pedaling? It looks easy.
@hflyerscom9 жыл бұрын
fourbypete, Apologies for the delayed response! It's in a range that is comfortable for most active people. If you are a bike rider, I would say it's on par with cruising on a road bike at 18 - 20 mph or perhaps similar to climbing a steady slight grade on a mountain bike. At the time of the testing shown in the video, required power is200 - 240 watts, but we've seen lower numbers and continue to work on optimization!

h20flyers.com Better late than never, I always say. If you could manufacture one for around $1200 aud, then I'd be very interested.

Gives proof to the old saying "Ships Aren't Driven They're Piloted" Now where are the Jump Struts to get it out of the Ground Effect once it's out of the water, the fold up/tetractible wings, Super Capacitors, ultra light Solar Cell's and the combination Alternator/Generator, and and and... The more wheels an Aircraft has, all the better... And the Glow in the Dark Smoke Trailers ? ALRIGHT, AMOTHER AIR SHOW... Just another US Air Force brat trying to get another aircraft back into the sky... You guy's understand don't you ?
@3DLasers4 жыл бұрын
All of the complications.... Friction... How to get it out of the Ground Affect once it's out of the water... Jump Struts, and... Jesus, how are we going to land this thing ?
