Canadian here. Love the metric system; definitely easier. However, I find myself dealing with the imperial system when doing renovations. Luckily, I'm fluent with both systems.

Now i love mythbusters, i really do. But sometimes it is hilarious on accident. „Let‘s do scale testing to come up with an equation of what materials to use and how to build this thing“. Now, i‘m not an… well i actually am an engineer and what you are looking for here is a book on entrance level physics, a book on material science, a book on machine elements and a book on technical mechanics. And what you will find is that all said equations exist. I know right, crazy 😂

Here in the UK, i find the best slingshots (catapults), are the type with the wrist brace. Keeps wrist locked and can use more power accurately.

I love Mythbusters, but it's like they never seen a slingshot. What a terrible design. They could make ropes from that rubber tubes and have just two or four of them it will be more stable. And two big trees will work much better, than that stupid radio towers.
