From the 12th century BCE to the present, poets have turned to the night sky for metaphors to express uncertainty and loneliness but also adventurousness and the awe that people feel when starting out on something new. Connecting "The Bear" to these literary traditions, poet Midge Goldberg will lead us in discussion about select passages about the night sky in The Bear, exploring how the story grapples with the journeying into the unknown, and share poems from her anthology "Outer Space: 100 Poems." Together we’ll examine how writers and poets, here in New England and all around the world, create stories from the night sky.
