To be honest when I heard the alien god was dead I expected the 'we killed ours, wanna watch us do it to yours?' kind of story, not the lovecraftian explanation. It was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

How'd humanity get the summoning spell, some may ask? Somebody from the deep south had a speech impediment, a lazy eye, and a burning desire to impress his blind date. He chose to try reading his order directly from the menu in French despite having never spoken, heard, or read French before. By coincidence, the garbled mess of syllables and grunts he emitted, (including a spontaneous coughing/sneezing fit in the middle) happened to be the first summoning spell. Miraculously, the savant summoner Forest Gump and his date Jennie Junky survived. His shrimp business nearly went under when most sealife mysteriously vanished, but made a come back when he realized the newly abundant eldrich tentacles and nameless shelled monstrosities in the sea made a decent replacement.

Thank god that mess was cleaned up before it broke the earths ecosystem. The attempt to clean it up also resulted in massive breakthroughs in eldrich science, although at the total and complete loss of Kansas.

To those who don't know, "there is always a bigger fish" is a line form Star Wars. It's in one of the prequels, and if you indulge in such things, could be considered proof that Jar Jar Binks is actually a Sith Lord. Lucas always loved to talk about the Star Wars universe "rhyming". Jar Jar was to be the evil equivalent of Yoda, if certain tales are to be believed. A seemingly ridiculous character when introduced, only to turn out to be formidable in the end.

I find to like these stories, where humanity uses eldritch horror as technology and tools. There was the story in which humans jump in a diffrent dimension filled with eldritch horror as FTL-travel (nicknamed the hug-drive by the comment-section after the giant tenticals "hugging" the spacecraft), all the stories where humanity gets protection from eldritch beings and now lovecraftian horrors handled as regular weapons just a step above the nuclear option. Not in sence of humanity being the only ones able to oppose, but flat down embrace it. I dont know really why but it does embody humanity perfectly and is totally something we would do.
