One seemingly minor but in the long term major thing that I see people making a mistake of is not realizing how Animal Barns work. You get plus 5 food per horse, but it's horse in your empire, not just in the city. That growth is useful.

Thanks for the tip Rob, that's very useful! :)

If you put your scout on auto explore they’ll beeline straight for curiosity’s and food. I spent around the first 32 turns in the Neolithic era and now have over 35 scouts

That is a lot of scouts!

35 Horses if you pick the right culture later

That’s a good way to lose a ton of territory. I tried this and the AI went insane and got an absolute ton of territory around me making it hard to get even a decent sized empire

@@thecoasterfollower3564 my last game it worked out for me, but I can see what you're saying, the AI does seem to que off of how well you're doing I hate games that do that... also waiting 30+ turns to settle IS WAY too much lol but I'm sure that guy did this just to see how many scouts he can get and not for a real game lol though.. with 35 scouts you CAN cause some real havok... esp as the Harrapans lol

Great Video for beginners for a solid early start. The importance of fully exploiting the Neolithic cannot be overstated. In addition to gathering the food and ransacking: kill animals - especially Mammoths. This builds Influence much faster than you would had you gone early into the Ancient era. Aim for 100 influence and 12+ Hunting Parties - should take 10-12 turns. You should have 2 if not 3 of the Neolithic Fame stars and will instantly get your first Ancient Era Fame star (for hitting a Population of 12). This gives a clear early Fame lead. Best of all, you now have by far the biggest army on the map. Send your legions of Scouts exploring, Nodes now give either money or, better still, Science and Influence and will respawn even in places you've already uncovered. With so many scouts you'll make a killing. After a while you also sometimes find Volunteers (a Free Warrior unit). Now, here is where i slightly disagree with the video. Don't waste all your Influence spamming Outposts. First and ONLY priority is establishing a 2nd city. BEFORE you hit Ancient, find the best spot for a 2nd city (Food, Industry and bonus resources) and get a 2nd outpost down. With luck on a couple of Ancient Era nodes you can have two cities up only a couple of turns into Ancient Era. Now back to the scouts and why it's so good to get a load for free in Neolithic. Scouts are FREE to maintain and in early Ancient are the ONLY combat unit anyone has - and you'll have way more than anyone else - who has to drain population form their fledgling city to build more. So, be aggressive. Gang scouts up on anyone else you find. Be sure to destroy outposts. With two armies of scouts you should be able to capture your third city. Cities cost a ton of influence so from hereon it's far easier to expand by capturing them. Leaving gaps - unclaimed territories - near to you is actually good. Neutrals will soon set up a camp and quickly upgrade it to a city which, again you can take with Scouts early on. Later on you can upgrade scouts to Horsemen - and due to all that early fighting most of them will by now be Veterans or better.

I make sure to get at least 2 stars, ideally all 3 before I hit the next era. Also, auto explore from turn 1.

Is everything alright? Why's there been no uploads in 10 months?
@Tytoalba7772 жыл бұрын
I think it's just that there hasn't been any real Civilization news in the last couple months. Tons of rumors and stuff, but nothing concrete. I'm sure once real news starts cropping up, he'll be back... hopefully.

Don't you get only enough to make 1 Outpost in Neolithic era? Probably the next (20) in early Ancient. Usually by that time my troops went so far from the first Outpost that i can't get another Outpost in connected region.
@ashwalkerson19343 жыл бұрын
First outpost is free, but if you keep collecting curiosities with your scouts, you could manage 2 or 3 easily before selecting a culture. One strategy I tried was sending 2 tribes out to collect and leaving a 3rd by my first outpost to just grab land when I found enough influence from the other 2 scouts. Then I aged up and could choose which one I wanted my capital to be by comparing the productions of each outpost. Within a few turns I could have 2 cities or 2 attached outposts

Oh, also park that 3rd scout somewhere you can't see very much because even in the territory of your outpost curiosity will spawn and you can just walk around the one territory collecting stuff so he's not wasting time.

Sounds great. Thanks. I just sent mine all over the places. I restarted 3 times in Neo era before I began to understand what's going on, even with watching the guide videos.
