I don't understand why people seem so upset about the ages system. I feel like it could end up helping a lot with the micromanagement and just overall speed of the the late game. Idk how people expect the series to build on itself and distinguish from past games without innovations and new features. If they wanted the same again they can just keep playing civ 6

I much prefer the more realistic style. I just couldn't connect with the civ 6 style. I don't agree that the Civ 5 graphics didn't age well. The leaders.. yeah I agree there. Those could be updated for sure. But the main map and interface.. I still think Civ 5 looks better than 6.

They could keep the concept of districts if they stuffed them into a city tile, reverted back to civ 5 basics where buildings are in the main city's tile and went back to tiles being improved by workers. The civs ai since 5 and worse on 6 has been a huge let down. Bring back doom stacks from 4. There is a big reason why 5 has stood the test of time.

If they are making you change rulers or cultures they should just have 3/4 different leaders from the same civ that offered different buffs and perks. Like for America G. Washington Teddy Rosevelt Elon Musk Donald trump etc.

With leader attributes, a player can alter their leader. How is that not revolutionary for Civ?

I don’t get why people are up in arms about historical accuracy, sure Ben Franklin leading Egypt and then Songhai is strange, but not any stranger than Ancient Era America or Modern Era Babylon, Civ has always been weird alternate history, this is just a new step in that idea

Game devs need to know that revolutionary does not always mean good. One of my favorite things to do in Civ was taking an ancient civilization to the modern age. That’s why the first Civ I play as is always Rome

Didnt Humankind have the same premise? I wasnt too fond of it at least. Jumping from Egypt, to medieval france, to modern Norway makes it feel less personal. The positive is that you can adapt and civs are generally more even since different civs are good early or late. But if it'll be good or end up like HumanKind we'll see

Personally I'm really excited by most of the changes in the new game. This ages system had me iffy at first, but if it's executed well I can overlook it considering how much I enjoy everyothing else going on. Not completely sold on a pre order, but optimistic.

My main concern is the civ change in the middle of the game. When I start a new game, I don't want to play as Genghis Khan - I want to play as Mongolia. I hate the idea that I'll be forced to play as a completely different civ after a few hundred turns just because. For me this could be salvaged if the civ changes made sense. I'd be all for it if the changes were like: Holy Roman Empire -> Prussia -> Germany. Or if you could play as England and later on choose to become eg. Great Britain, USA or Australia. These would make sense historically. What doesn't make sense is that you're at war with Julius Caesar of Rome one turn, and then sign a peace treaty with Julius Caesar of Japan the next turn. There is still a very simple solution though - let us turn this feature off. Simple, but I'm afraid they'll force it on us anyway. Which is why I'm not preordering and I'm not buying it at launch.

It wouldn't be civ if they didn't take big risks with the new game. Personally I don't really mind it, but I hope that like others have mentioned there will be historically logical options available most of the time so the transition feels natural.

I'm a huge advocate for stylised visuals like in civ 6. Any game that has stylised visuals ages infinitely better than games that try for the "realistic" style. For example Team Fortress 2 and Zelda: Windwaker look just as good as they did when they released. You can't say the same thing about games like Half Life and COD4 To be honest, I had no idea people didn't like civ6's visuals lol, is that why leaders released in the expansions look different to the base game's ones?

Please make: 1) some automatic fighting like defens of cities. 2) simultainius multiplayermode - like 90% of what you do do not need to be turned based. It only needs to be turnedbased when there is a need for it. Real wars aren't fought in this matter. 3) skip all unrealistic stuff. 4) include much moore different famus "qutes". 5) inklude moore dynamic music and all the old music to. CIV5/CIV6 are realy good games!

Back when the game first released, the brain dead stupid AI was the only thing saving this game. They used to advance way too quickly, even on settler difficulty. This meant I’d be in the industrial era while the AI is in the Information Age with modern armor and everything. Then they’d decide to invade me. This is where how stupid the AI is came into play. They’d advance relying only on their technology and my outdated units, as heavily outdated as they were, would be able to fight off mechanized infantry and modern tanks with clever placement of defensive structures, hit and run tactics, and using my cities as a shelter for my units. This and also sheer numbers.

That stupid mechanic where you can’t choose a pantheon if someone else picked it is complete BS. So too is “unmet player has finished x wonder you are building.” How do we know that? Have we met them? Let us finish the wonder just with less of a buff.
@nathanapplegate5374

Also alternate leaders need different unique units, especially if they’re from different eras. Henry V is not going to have Redcoats like George III. Victoria and Elizabeth I aren’t going to have the same units either. For a truly different experience with the same Civ, let’s say the two rulers of America are Abe Lincoln and Reagan. Is Abe Lincoln going to have Navy Seals and F-15 fighters? Alternatively, is Ronald Reagan going to have rifle musket infantry and Parot guns? The answer is no. The alternative leaders having the same units and the same buffs, especially from different eras confused me in Civ 6

As for governors, what we really need is a new mechanic. A region setting mechanic. Here’s how it could work. You select a group of cities, choose which one to make the regional capital, set that region’s specialization (agriculture, livestock, mining, education, entertainment & culture, later on industry oil, and tourism become available.) then you can assign a governor to that region. The governor goes to the regional capital and maintains order from there. Roads between cities increases order, loyalty, and efficiency.
@nathanapplegate5374
@nathanapplegate5374 12 күн бұрын
One final thing: districts. I like them but they need to be scaled back. Fewer districts. Some should become city center buildings. Neighborhoods, encampment, diplomatic, harbor, entertainment, industrial, airport, aqueduct, and spaceport are fine, but we do not need the other districts. Those are useless and IRL the buildings in those districts are typically found in city centers. Also, wonders should NOT take up a whole tile to themselves. Why would oxford university need its own tile? Is that not just a special university? Why can’t it replace the university in the campus buildings? Lighthouse of Alexandria. Is that not a lighthouse? Why can’t it be built in place of a normal lighthouse?????

I'm not sure we should train advanced AI on "how to take over the world" lol. But seriously, you're right. I remember students creating Civ4 mods using machine learning. The AI in Civ makes it unplayable to me (once I learn how to play that version). I actually just play either multiplayer (with friends) or hotseat (against myself, lol) and I play Civ 5, Civ 6's expansions make the game worse, not better.

@@SojinyPeople aren't really asking for the AI to be perfect. Just for the AI to be as competent as a fairly experienced played. Then you could play against the AI without the AI needing cheats like bonuses to all their resources. Playing against a higher difficulty AI in Civ 6 isn't a fair fight. The AI is that bad that you can still win against it. But it doesn't feel fair as the AI is that bad it has to be given unfair advantages over the player.
