Great Video! I know this is far in the future, but if anyone's interested they should definitely check out the Boston Dynamics channel. They've come a long way on frames, sensing, and motor control over the years. Great to see that MIT plays a big part in it too! Excited to see if this has any prosthetic applications.

What about sensing your own thoughts to completely control the robot?

That kind of reminds me of the movie Pacific Rim, in which humans control giant robots by attaching their brains to a robot's "nervous system" as well as their own. (Obviously, the technology shown there was not supposed to be scientifically viable. I mean, too much mental strain gives you a nosebleed? Really?) However, the humans also wear physical suits while piloting the robots, and the robots mimic their actions. It seems to me that in real life, you could remotely pilot a robot using only the physical suit. Design a suit wearable by a human that tracks the human's movement, and put a video screen in the eyepiece. Wirelessly connect a camera on the robot to the video feed in the human's visor, and feed the motion information from the human's suit into the robot's CPU. You now have, in effect, a system equivalent to the one shown in the video that the programmers use to control Helios. The suit system just takes a lot less training to use.

All the annotations lead to the same video when they're clearly not supposed to. Just a heads-up. Great video, though!

Greate video! You guys deserve so much more views! I hope one day I'll also be able to play and programm an Atlas Robot or hopefully a much more advanced version.
