Worked! Thanks so much! It took me a few times before I realize that you used the Hue Essentials and Hue app. Also I didn't realize at first that you were using the light switch and not the dimmer to turn the light off and on 6 times. Once I followed your instructions exactly, everything paired. It was also helpful that you said that there was a delay with the light showing in the Hue app. The same thing happened to me. My Alexa app found the light faster than the Hue app. Thanks again! I never would have gotten all this paired without your videos.

Does anyone achieve that recently? I have following issue. When dimmer is connected to hue hub and to bulb Im able to control light with the dimmer. based on the video 2nd step is to turn off/on bulb 6 times and add to hue hub. When this is done and bulb appears in the app Im not longer able to use dimmer.

Thanks for the great review. I have a question that cannot be found in the docs or online. All docs point to the IKEA Tradfri Shortcut button being able to pair up to 10 Tradfri devices. My question is opposite. Is it possible to have multiple (5 ?) IKEA Tradfri Shortcut button pair with 1 single IKEA Tradfri Wireless Control Outlet with just a HUE gateway. Do you think Is this possible ? Thank you !

Tried so so many times... it doesn’t want to work... if I reset the light the button doesn’t work anymore.. if I try to reset it, use hue essential and then pair the button with the light, philips hue doesn’t find it anymore. What an headache!!!!!!! Please someone help me!

I had similar issues, many times. I finally got it working after nearly two hours and I am afraid to break that 😅 but I have another bulb and switch I can try with later. Yes, it is frustrating and these exact steps in the video did not get me results. I admire his enthusiasm and professionalism but it is not a guaranteed simple solution.

When i try this with my bridge (v1) the red light from the dimmer instantly goes off, when use the touchlink. AFter that it seems to work with Hue. But when i syn the dimmer with the ikea lightbulb the Hue loses all links. Any suggestions?

I just try to use the same method to add dimmer to Philips hue hub with HUE essential. And found it is NOT free！The touchlink button became "Touchlink Premium". So I have to buy this premium to use only touchlink? Did I miss anything?

You mention in the description that a Trådfri bulb is required. This isn't the case as a Philips Hue bulb will work just as well. I'm currently using two Trådfri on/off buttons for two different Philips Hue bulbs. The bulbs still work through the app though the Trådfri button doesn't (as they are connected directly to the bulbs and not the bridge)

What happens when you use the Tradfri switch and then afterwards use the app/voice control without hitting the switch again first? Is the bulb now out of sync and the app thinks it's off when it's actually on, and turning it on in the app actually turns it off? Or does it sync itself back up after turning it on and off in the app?

Do you know if the same works with the ikea blinders? I've been struggling a lot trying to connect just the blinders alone to philips hue so ended up with only the trådfri remote..

No, from what I know is that they don't work with the Philips Hue system.

Possible to add this dimmer to the Led driver 30w via Hue bridge? I've tried to connect it directly to the driver, but then the Hue bridge loose connection to the driver.

Yes you can but this method requires a couple of tries to make it work.

Did you get the dimmer to show up in the app? I can use the dimmer and pair it with Philips Hue bulbs, but the dimmer is not visible in either Hue or Hue Essentials. It is good enough that it works, but it would be nice if it was visible in the apps as well. And by the way, thanks for these videos, just bought a start pack of Philips hue the other day for 50% off - and got my first Trådfri at about the same time. So your videos have helped me a lot setting it up.

Yes, when doing that it's supposed to reset the bulb and connect it to the Hue Bridge. This method requires finesse and a couple of tries to get it to work.

If your IKEA dimmer, shortcut or E1743, is not working with the Hue app but with your IKEA device (or vice versa) try the following thing: 1. Look for an IKEA device that does work with both the Hue app and IKEA device (such as the dimmer, shortcut or E1743) 2. connect it as the way in this video. 3. Pair the IKEA devices with the device that works in step 1. For me this did the trick! My IKEA lamp worked with the app and with my IKEA E1743 but my dimmer was not so i paired the dimmer with my IKEA E1743
