Brings back happy memories of my 1959 Humber Hawk. It was JTS 223, a simply lovely car. Wood and leather interior and a quiet very capable 4 cylinder engine.

A time when cars were like carriages without the horses! Those WERE the days! Learned to drive in one, Coventry, England.

Beautiful cars. Who needs Mercedes when you can have a Humber

My first car was a 66 Hawke . Loved it to bits . that was 1976 I have had a succession of Imperials since and today I drive an imported Series 3 Jaguar XJ12 but still use my trusty Imperial to go to work in . Great heater ,beautiful seats and a surprising turn of speed with the agility of not quite the Jag but with the right tyres it can be hustled along to keep right up with modern traffic . Pity about its love affair with petrol !

Sounds like a beast of a car. They don't make em like they used to. Thank you for sharing 👍

Fabulously roomy cars but grossly under powered and never a big seller back in my day. The Rover 3500 V8 was and still is the “daddy” from back in those days…

My dad bought a maroon Humber Imperial around 1970 when I was 7 or 8. I still remember the leather and walnut interior, in fact I think I still have the receipt for it somewhere!

Beautiful car. Never seen the interior in real life but the brochures show it to be gorgeous. Thank you for sharing

The Humber Hawk was a superb car and very popular both in the UK and in Australia/New Zealand. What did you like about it the most?

@@imvintage4374 hello,the Humber Hawk we had was a good family car,big,solid able to carry a family of 7 overall over long distances (with caravan,have photo somewhere of us late 60s parked down side road on route from Auckland-Wellington NZ with Hawk and caravan)as you say Humbers were popular here in NZ and there is a strong Humber/Singer car club and I have seen various Hawks and Super Snipe models at these car events in Auckland

Tengo la dicha de montarme en todos los vehículos fabricados por rootes motors ya que mi padre trabajo en esa empresa británica en Valencia y mi familia tuvo el honor de rodar en prueba del primer Hillman minx ensamblado en venezuela

What's that instrumental piece?
@minimaxi8022 жыл бұрын
Humber cars had nothing to do with the River Humber at Hull. In the Rootes group, Hillman meant basic, Singer, upmarket, Sunbeam, sporting, Commer, commercial, and Humber, luxury. In the 1960s there was the big Hawk, Super Snipe and Imperial, but also the smaller Sceptre. And by the 1970s there was only the Hillman Hunter based Humber Sceptre.

I think the Hawk looked better than the Super Snipe, a cleaner front end. I think they had identical bodywork otherwise.

A great video. My father had one of the last series Humber Sceptre . It wasn’t anything special . Prior to that was a 2.5 ( V6 ) Zephyr , that was a floaty old barge . Before that a Vauxhall Cresta , even more wallowly. After the Sceptre came two , yes two , Lancia Beta’s . In a different planet design wise , but the rust ..... Then the only real quality car he ever owned , an Audi 100 5E . 0ther cars followed , none were special.

Some great nostalgic cars you mention. Thanks for sharing
@davidfoster17622 жыл бұрын
I’ll try to list them all ! Early 50 ‘s a Vauxhall Saloon , a late 40s car at a guess. That was replaced with ??? Then a Morris 100O Estate. Then a Wolsey 1500 Then a Ford Consul Classic. Then a Wolsey 16/60 . Then the Cresta ( a two speed automatic , Dad was going through an American phase ) . Then the Zephyr , then the Sceptre , then the two Beta’s , then the Audi. Then a Volvo 245 GLT. Then a Peugeot 306 then a 307 . His last car was a Skoda Favorit. Dad was a printer by trade in his youth and was mechanic working on Lancaster bomber engines during part of the war and later on on military vehicles . 30 years later his son ( ie me ) stupidly blew the head head gasket on a Morris 1000 ( URX 202G ) ( ask me the number plate on my current car and I’d struggle , odd that ) . He replaced the head gasket , with me assisting in a rather feeble way. I’d love to relive that time under the bonnet with him .

The Humber (1960-1975) with a good and modern design is only the 1967 Sceptre, but not so original.
@bobthompson49182 жыл бұрын
The Sceptre was beautiful, but around 1969 became a glorified Hillman Hunter.
