I’m a premium Bible dork. Also a pastor. I’ve considered getting a humble lamb but haven’t yet. I got a few premiums because you get what you pay for. Definitely a goatskin fan. To ME if you are a KJV fan then the best for the money by FAR is church Bible publishers. Not even close! My preaching Bible right now is their water Buffalo wide margin.
@WoodenDeskReviews2 жыл бұрын
I’m a big fan of Lcbp myself; they are who I started out with. Cbp has expanded into more premium stuff, but they’re margins probably allow them to do so more easily. I recently got a Schuyler treveris in goat and man that thing is unlike any Bible I have ever handled. It’s a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I don’t get on board with the idea that you HAVE to have a premium, but if you can afford it, they really add to the reading experience. Plus, If taken care of, should last a very long time.
@chris2fur4012 жыл бұрын
@@WoodenDeskReviews sweet. I’ve considered getting a LCBP calfskin to check it out. I agree it doesn’t have to be a premium Bible. I preach from my CBP some and also my $25 thinline some.

I actually have their NKJV original 3rd printing I'm gonna sale off with a couple others. It's cool looking bible but I never use it so it will bless whomever buys it. I ain't no ebay scammer so my price won't give the person buyers regret LOL. IMHO premiums are mostly meant to be a one time purchase but in today's world its become a club scene in some cases. It done burned me out lol ...I will always love bible designs though but I prefer oldies. I'm very happy Nelson has made semi premium bibles that people can afford now. Giving the average guy a chance to experience a nice bible is cool. These do look neat but after the excitement goes away they become fancy trinkets seldom taken from the box. You are right, Ebay becomes a ridiculous second hand art show market for those who missed the boat on release. As an American who believes in freedom and a free market I don't care what people spend their own money on esp bibles. ...So I say to each their own, ya got a $1000 for an Allan Sovereign ya always wanted go for it. ....Just make sure ya got food in your fridge first 🤣 This Lion bible isn't one I'd buy personally but it's just a taste thing for me , it's definitely cool looking . That said from personal experience they lose their pizazz after awhile. I think if someone really wants a premium they should buy one esp the one that really catches their eye. They should window shop as much as possible and read and watch reviews plus look at comments . I myself recommend buying an RL Allan , Cambridge and Schuyler bible if ya have the money . If ya buy a lesser brand you will regret it and still chase after the one that got away. BUT not everyone has $200 for a bible and buying a Nelson for $90 or a CBP KJV for $60 to $150 is an excellent option. Honestly some of those lesser brands have impressed me many times through the years. Wow ..sorry, I wrote ya a whole page. Thanks for sharing your bible.

Hey, good to hear from you again! I used to have more bibles but I’ve been adopting some more minimalistic attitudes toward having excess of items that I’ll either never use, or I just don’t need. So, I’ve sold several. I’ve tossed the idea around about selling my humble lamb. I’m really wanting a kjv treveris in either slate grey goat, or marbled calfskin. I think the whole thing around the premium bibles has created some “Bible snobs.” Sure, I’ll agree; a premium Bible gives a different feel thus making the reading experience quite nice. However, it’s not just the cover, the paper, or if it’s red letter; it’s what’s in that book. Just like a car, it serves the purpose of transporting you through life. If you can afford a nice one and want one get it. If not find something you can. Never understood the hype and looking down on others some do with bibles.

Are the Humble Lamb Lions stamped with First Print Edition? I didn't know that. I thought it was only the original Lion bibles that came out.
@WoodenDeskReviews2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure, I’m assuming the first run they did it as printed with that. Not sure.

I would love one but the price for me is way too high I think that's an issue with alot of premium bibles the price is just too much for most of us
@WoodenDeskReviews7 ай бұрын
I totally understand that, they can be pricey. In some ways though, it can be an investment that would last for years. At the end of the day though, a Walmart Bible can change your life just as much as a premium!

@@lisamorgan6433 exactly, he reaches through the spots we are each at individually. High quality bibles are great, but those that can’t afford them shouldn’t feel like they have to have a leather bound Bible to grow closer to the Lord. Not too interested in 400 year old English anymore. I would prefer a good study Bible in NKJV or ESV. The only premium bibles I own today are a Schuyler Creedo Quentel ESV, a MacArthur Study Bible ESV Premium Collection and a first and second edition LSB. I moved on from buying very many text only editions and am buying mostly study bibles.

Thank you for this review of a high quality leather Bible. I didn't know Humble Lamb published the KJV, and I'm happy to see that they included the Epistle Dedicatory, and the Translators to the Reader(many KJV Bibles unfortunately don't have those features). Does Humble Lamb also publish the KJV with the APOCRYPHA between the Testaments? That is my favorite section of the Bible.
@WoodenDeskReviews2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the comment! To my knowledge they don’t have any editions with the apocrypha. I doubt they’ll have any published with it, as those are kinda hard to find. Great site.com wells facsimiles of the 1611 which do include the apocrypha and you can pick one up for about $130 roughly. I’ve got one and it’s like going back in time seeing the original 1611! This Bible isn’t everything I expected, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re into how a book feels in the hands; the overall experience.

I like that a lot. But I don’t like how they put “word of god” on it especially sideways. Sort of destroys the beauty of the book!
