HumbleMechanic did you consider doing the stud conversion? I also had to replace the rubber hose. It had degraded on the inside over time and was causing the car to go into limp mode under load..

Thankfully these high pressure fuel systems are not as complex as some others. Key word is maintenance as usual. Charles, you are the man when it comes to these repairs. Thank you.

Manuel RVS Yup. Especially the earlier FSI 2.0T in my opinion. We have a 2008 Passat and we just absolutely love that car and I have done just basic maintenance and small issue repairs over the course of its life. I do my own belt changes, metal impeller water pump, reseal vacuum pump, check follower once a while and some upgraded ignition parts and it purrs like a kitten. It’s 11 years old at this point and I am planning on keeping it for at least another 5-7 years because no one even offers a good wagon hardly anymore that is affordable and fun to drive. Perhaps a Mercedes wagon next. And I will never buy a Subaru wagon, sorry Subaru.

That exact sensor has failed on my Mk5 GTI in the winter of 2016. After a search on eBay I found out that I had, as mentioned in the video, the old revision, with E, and I ordered the one with K from America, because somehow, no ebay vendors here in Europe had the part. Took 2 weeks to get here, but my engine ran again.

Previous owners had somewhat neglected follower changes on our EOS BPY engine, and there is a new (ish) fuel pump on the engine, but the follower of the same vintage is starting to show some wear and the cam surface shows some wear also. How much wear on the cam fuel pump lobes will fall in the "worn, but acceptable to still operate" zone with follower inspections with each oil change? Based on the pictures of damaged cams I have seen, this appears to be somewhere in the marginally operational (vs obviously fubar) zone.

Humble, I have this same motor and it is clattering like it has a cam chain flopping around in the housing . I have read it is common to make clatter under a few different parts failing. I just watched this video and pulled the follower it looks very clean and well kept I was wondering what else could be making this noise on this type of motor I am not really interested in chasing parts and replacing them if i can find an experienced vet to help in the diagnosis process

Sounds like it's a faulty timing chain tensioner on the back or right side of the engine. The tensioner is known to fail and cause a rattling noise, with catastrophic engine failure if not fixed in time.

@johnferguson7235 6 жыл бұрын
The manufacturers of the filters keep the data about the performance of their filters TOP SECRET. They won't tell you anything about the filters except that they meet a certain specification which usually involves particles larger than 5 microns and a single pass through the filter or a short cycle. How much of the sub 5 micron size metal particles that are trapped is a mystery. Large particles can get stuck in oil passages or galleys and never reach the filter.

When driven and parked under hot sun(hot weather), many cranks before it finally starts. The hotter the weather, the harder to start. 3. After the hard start, driven a little bit and parked for an hour or two, hard start returns. Do you know what could be the issue? Lpfp had been replaced. Starter relay been replaced. Lpfp primes. Have a 2007 that will start and run for a few seconds before stopping. After that it will turn over but not restart. If you let it set for awhile same thing again. I am getting a P0087 code.

this is a common place for that code to be the issues.

Hello, When appears these codes, what happen with the engine? does not start? Does it lose power? Or rpm? And how is your driving, does it make the acceleration slow? Best regards.

Hey Charles, this is kind of a noob question, but I need to swap the bamboo fitting to the brass banjo fitting, however I am not sure which way is to loosen it. I have already kinda stripped the bamboo fitting and am scared to attempt again. Thanks and hope to hear from you!

That bolt is awful. It’s a standard lefty loosey bolt

@HumbleMechanic my cam follower was pretty broken, like the side that contacts the cam, was just hole, very little metal left there. You mentioned if that was the case it would be "a much larger repair." Can you specify what you meant by that and point me in the right direction please? Thanks!

If that piece shreds off completely you can damage the camshaft which can in return make the valves in your engine hit the piston which basically means you are fucked until you rebuild

No, there was an issue with cam shaft and some other stuff that nobody could tell me, but it was running good just the engine warning light come up every other month, so I ended putting the car for sale as a mechanic special, sold it for almost nothing and I guess the person that fixed it did ok,

Could you do a video on what to do when you do this job but you realise that the cam follower is worn through and replacing it doesn't solve the fault code. I'm still getting hesitation around 3,000 revs under load. Still happening after replacing cam follower. Getting P2293 when it happens. The fuel pressures have all been checked and are fine. The tank fuel pump has been checked and working fine. I'm now considering camshaft and hpfp replacement myself.

Oh yeah great videos btw, super helpful when doing these jobs. My only comment is that it would be helpful if you showed how to rotate the engine, rather than just mentioning it like we all know how to do it. A little addition about that would have been super helpful for me.
