Humi-Smart | Review

Humi-Smart claims to be "the different and better" two-way humidification device for your cigars, i.e. it wants you to believe it's better than Boveda.
Charlie Minato puts those claims to the test and finds Humi-Smart to be the best alternative to date, but is that enough to dethrone the king?

I completely agree with you, I have different sensors and I testing the humidity and is not stable as the boveda packs are. Also Humi-smart don't last, the little dot don't change and sensor agrees that the humidity is low. So going back to boveda.

Before I started using boveda I used humidity beads which worked fine but I i hated adding water when it was needed. Boveda is the best. They maintain the humidity for about 4 months for me. I just replace them and do nothing in between except open my humidor and take out a cigar to smoke. I guess it all depends on how many boveda packs you need and how many cigars you need to humidify. I spend about $120 a year on boveda.

you can refresh the packs so spending more on packs once you have a bunch is not needed

I remember when Humi smart was sending these out to all the “influencers” and you had all these people saying how great they were so they could get more for free. I got them in to test them out and boveda was a clearly superior product. Not only that but humismart was scrubbing their Instagram getting rid of any comments that questioned their product. No respect for this company

Agree, not better than Boveda but the distinction between the two in my humidor is not remarkable based on my hydrometer readings. What is different is the price. Boveda costs more for pretty much the same performance.

You can recharge bovedas too, I'm assuming that is the case with this too. My issue with these products that have the mat instead of the gel mixture is that they smell weird.

The humidity color changers are something I am use to seeing in missiles but in this case the way they are used is old tech and unneeded but hey I am a Boveda fan boy what do I know.

I find it interesting the both products are made within 20 miles of each other in Minnesota. I have been using Boveda since the beginning of that company and I have no plans or desire to switch.

the same way I may assume that having natural product near my cigar will increase the chance of having spores. So they should be very clear about what their product does, and why I should change from Boveda with +/-1% to their product with +/-2%

Just wanna point out that table salt causes metal to corrode, so unless they were specific on what kind of corrosion, they could very well just mean table salt i.e sodium chloride i.e the stuff you put in food to make it taste better.

Just exploring the use of these types of products and it seems to me that is it were a 2 way deal, you wouldn't want anything toxic in the mix. Also, if any amount of salt were bad, nobody would smoke Cuban cigars. There is so much salt in the air and on top of everything on that island its ridiculous. Even the rain has salt in it... so ....wassup? ❤😂

Any lab person will tell you the sensor is succumbing to a drift. The decline chart is the screaming red flag. You would need to remove it and calibrate against a known standard. Not sure about the humismart, but the sensor indicates very obvious drift.

if you want to beat another company there's two ways . 1) better product at the same price or just a little more expensive. 2) product less performant but at cheaper price. this one looks like none of this two.
