Humidity control doesn't just work in one direction. There are many areas or countries with high humidity - constantly above 70%. You would need to address this end as well since dropped necks and open seams are just as common an occurrence there.

wajang1000 this is why I wish they had a two way osmosis system such as the Boneva humidipaks that I have for my guitar. I just have 2 sets. When one starts to dry, I seal it in a bowl of water that rehydrates it . I just swap them out. I have not seen one marketed or designed small enough to fit in violin cases which are designed to hug the instrument.

I have read reviews stating that mold became a problem with sponge designed systems even using distilled water and sponge replacement. Have you seen this? I use nitrile gloves to make sure that doesn’t contaminate the sponge but I want to prevent it because if case were to be contaminated with mold it would have to be replaced

Could you use both the case humidifier and the inside the instrument humidifier at the same time?

Sure, if it's really dry. It's hard to "over-humidify," (I'm sure it's possible, just not as likely) most people err on the side of not humidifying at all.

I have a meter in my case but it’s always at 40. I’ve never seen it change. Is that normal? Btw, I keep my violin in my house at all times in its case except for when I am playing.

Will a dampit cause mold though?
@Fiddlershop4 жыл бұрын
It isn't really that intense if used properly. It's important to dry the outside of the dampit before sticking it in the instrument. It shouldn't be dripping water.

How many people watching this have spent big bucks on instruments yet have no idea what the humidity levels in their homes/rooms is? Spend the 20 or 30 bucks on a humidity meter.
