Andrew begins a new series on The Gospel Truth called Humility: God’s Path To More Grace. Andrew is teaching on humility against pride. Humility is not popular and looked at as being weak in our society today. We need to recognize that God’s kingdom operates on a different system than what this world system operates on.
08 Andrew starts new series on Humility: God’s Path To More Grace.
19 Our society today operates in a lot of selfishness, pride, arrogance, and promoting themselves. This is completely contrary to what the word of God teaches.
23 In Matthew 11:29, Jesus said He was meek and lowly in heart. Jesus was God manifest in the flesh (John 1:1, 14), and yet He was meek and lowly in heart.
19 It was meekness when Jesus took a whip and drove the money changers out of the temple. Not just once, but He did it twice. He did it at the beginning, but also at the close of His ministry. (Matthew 21:12; Mark 11:15; Luke 19:45; John 2:15) That’s meekness, and it needs to be redefined, because religion has presented this wimpish idea about what humility is. Jesus said He was meek and lowly in heart, and yet there was nothing week in Him. He was strong. He was bold. He did not fear Herod, or any of the religious leaders.
12 If you truly love God, it’s going to be like what (Hebrews 11:13) says, ‘it makes us strangers and pilgrims here on this earth.’ Our real home is in heaven. You shouldn’t be completely at home on this earth.
43 Prior to salvation, our lost spirit that has not been regenerated lusts to envy. It’s always seeking the wrong thing. But, for a believer, when you get born-again, you get a brand new spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17), ‘you become a new creature in Christ.’ You no longer have a spirit driving you towards sin.
38 You only have one nature when you get born-again, and that’s the spirit of Christ. Some people say, “Then why do I still have this tendency to sin?” It’s because of an un-renewed mind. Your old nature, your sinful man, programmed you on how to be selfish. You’re going to continue to function the way that you were programmed, until you renew you’re mind. That’s what Romans 12:2 is talking about.
51 In (Galatians 5:16) it says, ‘the Spirit lusts against the flesh, and the flesh lusts against the spirit.’ The word lust just means a strong passionate desire. It doesn’t have to be sinful, and it doesn’t have to be immoral. The Holy Spirit within us is a jealous God. (Exodus 34:14; Deuteronomy 4:24) He wants us for Himself. He wants us to be totally committed, dominated, and controlled by God.
18 God is a jealous God. He wants us to love Him, and to love His values. He doesn’t want us to adopt and embrace the values of this world.
25 The word grace is used to describe a number of things in the Bible. It’s not only talking about God’s ability, and His favor to us, on an undeserved basis. But, in (Romans 12:6-8) it talks about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and whether you prophecy, or whether you have gifts of administration. Do it according to the proportion of faith that is given unto you. Those things are called grace gifts.
00 (James 4:6) “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth brace unto the humble.” The more you humble yourself, the more grace will be given unto you.
11 A lack of humility is limiting God’s grace towards you. This favor, this manifestation of God’s goodness, that many people are looking for, isn’t going to come as long as you are operating in pride. (James 4:6) You have to humble yourself to have this, ‘more grace’, operate through you.
36 God sees pride as evil. Satan’s original sin was pride. And, all pride comes from the devil. It is a devilish, demonic type of thing. When you submit to pride, you are submitting yourself to God’s sworn enemy.
22 (James 4:7) “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” In context He is talking about humility. He’s saying submit yourself to God; humble yourself under the hand of God. Follow His leading, instead of your own wisdom. This is talking about humility, and then resist the devil.
31 There are a lot of people who say they are resisting the devil, and yet they operate in total selfishness. You aren’t resisting the devil unless you are resisting pride & links to next video.
