I had the opportunity to ask her why she waited so long to record it (about 30 years old). She said she wanted to live with it long enough so she had something to say. It shows!

After years of playing trumpet, I hear the intonations of a Bb, version, but the flawlessness of her playing the Eb version is outstanding!

@@ElMcMeen1a Maurice Andre is one of my favorite soloists. There must be a half dozen live and studio recordings featuring him playing this piece. Some years ago, I had the pleasure of hearing Maurice Murphy, the late legendary principle chair of the London Symphony Orchestra, give a very pleasing performance. His musical voice is certainly different from Andre's, but both men really sing with their instruments, and bring great character and personality to these very well known works. (I also had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Murphy in 1982 for a lengthy chat over an early morning rehearsal breakfast, and easily appreciated him as a fine gentleman, too.)
