Obwohl es viel schwieriger als Doppelhorn ist; Wienerhorn zu spielen, spielt er doch sehr elegant. Das ist, als ob Wienerhorn eigentlich leicht wäre. Besonders ist Cadenza großartig.

In addition to this being a fantastic performance the fact that it's not performed on a double or triple horn makes it an absolute treasure. This is such a unique horn, it should be ambassador of the Wiener Symphoniker. Bravo to you Peter, bravo to the orchestra!

I play an Alex 103 and to me his is the perfect horn sound.

He is playing what is called a "Vienna Horn" which has a bit of a different tone (and closer to the tone of the natural horn Mozart would have heard. The entire orchestra seems to be playing "Vienna" instruments, and in the "Vienna style" as the Vienna Philharmonic.

Yes - I believe he uses just the second valve? It's because the 15th harmonic over E natural is stronger than the 16tj over Eb.

No, ignore me. He uses 2 and 3. It turns the instrument into a horn in Db. Again, this 18th harmonic is stronger on many horns than the 16th over Eb.

Unser Solo-Hornist Peter Dorfmayr im Video hat auch zuerst Doppelhorn gespielt und ist dann auf's Wiener Horn umgestiegen - es bedarf natürlich einiger Umstellung, aber zu spät ist es nie! Alles Gute und viel Freude weiterhin!
