June 18 - 21 were spent on the island St Paul, out in the Bering Sea, (in)famous from the Discovery Channel show "Deadliest Catch". In birding circles it's famous for Auks and Puffins (and vagrants in spring), which is why we went there. Target Bird #1 was Red-legged Kittiwake, Target Bird #2 was all the rest of the special birds breeding there ;-)
That means: Horned and Tufted Puffin, Crested Auklet, Parakeet Auklet, Least Auklet, Red-faced Cormorant, Rock Sandpiper and the local subspecies of Grey-crowned Rosy Finch and Pacific Wren.
Since the weather on the island can be very tempramentful, and it was quite OK on arrival day, we secured good looks on all species then.
This video covers June 18-19, I think, and the video clips included are mostly taken by my partner who have a much steadier hand than I do. Filming with the Canon 7D mark II is no easy feat, as I keep repeating... when it's shaking to an unwatchable degree it's taken by me and included bcs sometimes I'm not able to keep myself from doing it... (sorry).
