I love the Red Phalarope feeding footage (makes me dizzy) and the Spectacled Eider story. I’m so glad they gave you such wonderful looks for some awesome photos.

Yes, this polar region is a very different kind of exotic environment, that's for sure! The same goes for the whole of the Alaska trip, to be honest. Next video will take us to St Paul Island, way out in the Bering Sea. Puffin and Auklet galore! :-)

What an exciting and memorable trip this must’ve been. I wish I had some Spectacled Eider references to work with for my entry to the Federal Duck Stamp! They are eligible this year. I’m likely going with Hooded Mergansers though since Specs are next to impossible to find!

Hi Michael! About the trip: it sure was! The Spectacled Eider was one of three birds that topped our wish-list, the Red-legged Kittiwake was #1 and #2 was the Spectacled Eider and as #3 were every speciality that we could lay our eyes on (like all the Puffins and Auks on St Paul) 🙂
