That lantern is awesome, too bad they are being scavenged for the globes and being thrown away . HAPPY HUMP DAY STEVE !

Very nice. When I was much younger, we had side street food stall vendors using pressure pump driven kerosene mantle lamps. The gas light is way cooler.

Thanks, Keith, Hey, these things are out there. I ran into a few but you gotta look forum and when you first feel and they kind of feel kind of cheap, but they're not. They're actually built very well. I was doing some reading on them last night. And it appears that they have versions of this lantern that are sidewalt and they can be used indoor so I think these might be what people use to use in older camp trailers

I think I seen that in your picking video and thought that was in nice shape. Almost looks new. Never seen that globe before now I see why they are repurposed love the match hole.

@@doinsngoins - I saw that vid, but I thought you may have rigged it up a little better since then. I still haven’t seen another one of those. It has to be a bathroom heater. At least that’s what I’m thinking

Sure would be cool to find some old oil lamp wall sconces and make a base that threaded on and then clipped into the sconce. And then you could have gas lines coming out of the wall to provide fuel to each lantern. Have a great week, buddy, and dont work too hard

Thanks for sharing, my wife and I really like these! Thanks to ebay we have more than we need! The instructions say to replace burner gasket for longer mantle life? I used the large coleman mantle worked. American mantle sells the gasket and large mantles. Paulin bought out humphrey gas light div. And continued selling rebranded lights and equipment into the 1970s .

Now that is great info 👍 thank you for this info and for sharing it with us here !

The later Paulin holed globes are frosted! Real fancy. I have a catalog that lists new holed frosted globes for three dollars each. Ebay has that vintage paulin catalog available now...

Now there's another fantastic little light! I know the mechanics behind a mantle, but I wonder if there is some way to keep them from breaking or disintegrating especially when transporting in a vehicle. Maybe if I came up with some sort of a wire mesh to go over the top...just something for me to think about! lol
@doinsngoins2 ай бұрын
I don't know about that Bruce. But I do know that the new mantles that you buy today are made very poorly and break very easy. The old vintage mantles, particularly the Coleman. Mantles are very tightly woven and surprisingly very strong . For example, I have one on a lanner. That rides in my van every single day and see that's yet to break

Actually, I just use water 💧 on vents, however....if it's really baked on grit I use oven cleaner then rinse it with dish soap and water to naturalize , then rise very well with just water.
