Great video. New subscriber to you channel. I like the real time information (elevation etc.) you give on your videos, nice job. Always cooler hiking with a dog. Nice job. ✌️

Man I've camped in some challenging conditions before but 18:27 that looks ROUGH. Fun, but rough, hahah. Hope the pup didn't get too cold out there! Either way looks like an awesome hike.

Setting up and breaking down in those conditions are the roughest, for sure. But always a fun experience (probably more fun when back home nice and warm and thinking about it though). The pup loves the cold weather and if she ever gets too cold at night she climbs in my quilt with me. She also now has her own top quilt specifically dedicated to her for the super cold trips. I also let her hair grow out starting around September so she has her full winter coat for these kinds of trips. I briefly checked out your channel and see you're hitting places super close by to me. Going to dive into one of your vids now!

@@markwthompson71 She looked like she was nice and shaggy! Envious that you have a canine friend to take out like that, that's a goal for me! And yeah I'm really new to the whole KZbin thing, but I've been trying to find people who have been doing this awhile to try and figure out what I need to learn, your channel seems like a great starting point!

@@WesHicks I make videos more for my personal memories and friends than I do for anything else. And I have yet to figure out a style or a groove that fits me best. I'm also usually horrible at making them in a timely fashion. If you want (what I consider) a shining example of a "story based" hiking video, I'd strongly suggest Elina Osborne. If you're shooting for something like your Table Rock video style (which I also enjoy), then look for Kraig Adams.

@@markwthompson71 I just briefly looked those two up, I really appreciate the recommendations! I feel like I'm somewhere in between the "personal memories" thing and those more narrative style vids. Anyways thanks again for the recommendations, looking forward to more hiking vids whenever they come out!

What was the water situation like in winter? I'm planning this exact trip next weekend, but an out and back

I’ll assume you’re starting at Carvers Gap: usually water just past the side trail to Grassy Ridge, always water at the Stan Murray spring and Overmountain Victory Shelter spring. If you’re going past Little Hump (NoBo) .5 miles into the woods is a pretty good spring as well.

Pretty crazy cold and windy but sure beautiful with the fresh snow. Good the sun came out though. I have subbed. I also have a hiking channel if you would like to check it out. Thanks.
