Yes, but without someone taking a video the world would never have got to see it. While I agree that life should not be viewed through a lens, it's also great to capture these moments so you can relive them later down the line.
@caleidoo6 жыл бұрын
@Alex Yearsfunc Okay. Two things. The world has been seeing this for thousands of years and (hopefully) will be seeing this at least as long again. A whale surfacing next to people is not unique on the scale of all things happening in the world - KZbin is full of it. It is however very unique to the person witnessing it first hand, feeling, seeing and hearing it in front of them. It might and probably won't happen too many times in the future for THAT person. So watch it. Absorb it. Don't 'Oh I need to post this on my social media". No: experience it. That instinct is getting more rare every year apparently. Everybody sharing every image or event every other tourist has made or shared a million times before them. I'm not getting it. Secondly. You say relive? How can you relive a moment you didn't live in the first place because you were too busy recording? How many people rewatch their own videos multiple times? Have you ever seen a person walk up to you and ask you "Look at this NYE fireworks video I recorded in 2015! It's crazy!" What is more valuable? Living a precious moment to the fullest with family or friends or watching it through a viewfinder and almost never look at it again / satisfy the need to post content on your Facebook? In this particular setting, I would have just watched it happen. If for some reason I really wanted to record it, I would have checked whether someone is recording and if I see somebody recording, just enjoy the moment. Not make the same exact image recording as two or three others next to me - I presume they know each other. I could give a lot more about the motivations of the current social media generation to capture, share and post everything that happens, but this is already way too long.
