You're doing exactly what I want to be doing. I have an 06 lbz. I bought a donor truck for the leather interior and stumbled across your channel in the hopes to see how hard it was to transplant the cab because I too want the sunroof. After I watched your video I noticed you're into humvees. I swear I've been searching gov planet and ill be pulling the trigger soon. I'll be watching your as you post them. Keep killin it. Love the channel.

WOW! Great choice to rebuild, and awesome to see what 400K with modern emissions does to an engine designed to run for millions of miles. There are early 70’s Merc diesels still running. This is going to look great under the hood!

Thanks! hopefully I can get this thing back together lol

Yeah, I'm with you on the rebuild. With 400 thousand, it wouldn't make sense to put it in a rebuilt HMMWV. And EGR delete. I think you're doing a great job!

400K Miles?.? Good Choice on the rebuild!!! You Got This!
@DLR-gz6tv2 жыл бұрын
One other thought while watching this for the first time... can you reassemble it without all of the emissions? Would the HMMVW still fall under the "Emissions Exempt" profile?
@JackSmith-hd3kn2 жыл бұрын
@@DLR-gz6tv I don't know about GA state law but here in NC it would depend on what year the HMMWV is titled as.
@SplitBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Humvee's are exempt from emissions, well in GA all diesels are.

Yah, great choice on pulling the engine apart. No point in going through all that work re-vamping the rig and then turn around and drop in a motor that is questionable. Better to do it right and be done with it, rather than dropping that in there and having something go south on yah. That would be a heart break to tear it all down and do it all over again.

Not related to the duramax swap, but I’m having an issue with my 6.5L. The oil pressure dropped on me while driving and and had to stop, get my trailer and haul it back home. The pressure would drop to 30PSI and then back up to around 60 then drop to 30 and continue dropping. I don’t know where to troubleshoot first. Have you had anything like this happen or know where I should start troubleshooting?
@SplitBuilds2 жыл бұрын
30 and above if I’m not mistaken is in range. Is the pressure dropping while your pressing the throttle? Mine drops when I come to an idle after the engine is warmed up. However when I get back on the throttle PSI rises to about 60.
@gregorycox32 жыл бұрын
@@SplitBuilds I think I figured out the problem. The fuel pump was bad. But while installing the pump I stripped the threads to the fuel line. What are your thoughts on high pressure fuel hose?
@bryanford11392 жыл бұрын
I dunno about Duramax's, but if that were a Cummins, NO WAY I'd touch it....million mile motor!!! Pro Tip : If you strip out an allen, just smack a slightly bigger Torx bit in it...that'll git 'er out fer sher!
@SplitBuilds2 жыл бұрын
I try not to get that far with beating in a larger torx… I’ve done it plenty of times though. I try to be more careful
@hummerguy2 жыл бұрын
Same, I'm sure he's going with a duramax because the cummins is crazily tall
@JackSmith-hd3kn2 жыл бұрын
@@hummerguy Either one is a good option, although I believe you have to do a 3" body lift for either engine. Turbo clearance for the duramax, valve cover clearance for the Cummins. Plan B put out a video on theirs. He'll, just for the 6.5 Turbo in mine needed a half in lift to clear everything just right.

@@JackSmith-hd3kn Interesting, one question tho, what made you do a swap to a 6.5 turbo instead of adding a turbo to your current 6.5 or did you have the 6.2? Thanks man
