Looking better every video! Like the casual attire while working on the ride, I thought I was the only one running around my property in casual attire. Now as for fiberglassing, I had a baptism by fire back in the early 80’s. Had acquired an old Harley Davidson golf cart and the bonnet was a total mess. It took a friend and I a month just to restore the fiberglass. After the fact I learned that if I had drilled the end of the stress crack with a drill bit about twice as large as the crack, it would prevent the crack from spreading further. This technique is also used on aluminum aircraft skins. On to paint. Without prior knowledge and just casual advice from friends, my friend and I managed to apply a fantastic finish of candy apple blue to the bonnet. No runs, no crazing, an almost perfect finish! Would I do a candy color again? NOT! When I get to working on my ride it will be all Matt finish. We just finished painting the exterior of a military comms shelter, did it in the beige color of units used in Desert Storm. Net step reapplying decals for all of the warning signage as well as its serial number.

That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing. Yeah, my wife hates it when I work in my PJs, but she’s not the boss of me (looking around nervously) lol. I first worked on fiberglass when I was fixing my spare wheel tub on my 1970 vette. That was a crazy fix, and taught me a lot. Luckily the HMMWV hood was mildly damaged. I did trench the ends of the stress cracks a little bit deeper than the rest if you notice and added an inch of trench to the end of where the crack stopped. Didn’t drill all the way through though. Maybe I should have, but I did put fiber strands into the resin, I’m hoping that strengthens the fix.

Should really wear a real respirator instead of a paper face diaper when dealing with CARC. But otherwise good work!

Oh if it was real CARC I’d have a diving helmet on 🤣🤣. Luckily it is CARC substitute.
