At an acrimonious FMQs today Douglas Ross questioned Humza Yousaf about the new Low Emission Zone (LEZ) in Glasgow.
Mr Ross asked why a homeless charity couldn't get an exemption for a van that feeds up to 300 homeless people a week inside the new LEZ area.

Biggest polluter in Glasgow has always been Hope Street and Union Street, ie Buses. Glasgow city centre streets are a ghost town with cars due to huge meter costs and so to now blame them and bring in LEZ stinks of more money grabbing from hard working motorists the most easy targets.....once again on top of the other money grabbing city centre schemes. Due to the SNP rules they are removing wood burning stoves from the few council houses in Braemar where there are frequent power cuts in winter and -14 C temperatures. These stoves are a small contributor to the climate and it is frail, disabled and poor people who are living in these homes. Next storm that leaves us without power and blocked roads during winter they will have nothing to keep them warm.

Even the council’s reports on Glasgow’s pollution state pollution is low with only 2 reports of moderate which were out with the city centre. It’s not about health it’s about getting cars off the road. This is the start of the 15 minute cities, just look at other cities in the UK which are further along the road.
