@kimiguns5 жыл бұрын
Honey Bear I’ve realized this since my 6th grade year, I’m in 9th now. I would lose sleep everyday to spend more time with my family because I despised the fact that I was taught to spend 8 hours at school, 8 hours with my family, and 8 hours sleeping. I chose to spend those 8 forced hours at school, and not 8 but 11-12 hours with my family if they were still awake, and a mere 5-4 hours of sleep. I frequently pulled all-nighters during my middle-school years. One thing that I still did despite my hatred for the school system, was make straight A’s, became the Principal’s honor roll student, and made it to high-school without getting held back. I did it for my Mom who would be contacted if I refused to go to the school, if I were to refuse to do any work, if I were to learn what I wouldn’t need. Fellow peers love to call me that smart, quiet, and shy girl who’s easy to pick on due to my elementary years. But those people who chose to talk to me quickly learned, I may be smart and I may give you the answers to your worksheet if I’m not bothered by you, yet I can be a funny and quite odd and somewhat vulgar and outgoing person. I would make it clear to the kids who were rude, I wasn’t going to deal with their shit. I made it clear I wasn’t going to be a pushover anymore. I could be nice, but I could be mean. I was not at the school because I want to learn, I’m there because I am forced to be. I learn what I’m forced to learn, so I can reach the point where I don’t have to learn what I won’t use. I’ve made it very clear, that now I’ll only barely pass school despite my intelligence because I don’t like school. Those kids who talked to me, they know I may be smart, but I don’t like what I have to use it on. Sorry, I know I didn’t make sense, I’m just so frustrated and annoyed with school. I’m currently behind on my schoolwork, and I only have a week left. Motivation and Procrastination are big problems of mine, especially when it comes to school.
@user-lk7zs8ts7f5 жыл бұрын
Alyssa Alyssa It depends on when you sleep and how long your school days are. I spend 6 and a half hours in school and I spend 9 hours sleeping. That’s 8 and a half hours of free time I can spend with my parents.

It’d be nice if we were taught how to use it in real life situations though. (My teacher teaches us how to use our math with checks) Also, everything after 8th grade is needed depending on your career. Actually, there are a lot of educators like principals and teachers who believe the education system is not fine the way it is. Unfortunately, there’s very little-if anything at all-they can truly do about it. The future of education and the future of America’s children are in the hands of lawmakers and other politicians, most of whom have never taught a day in their lives. A lot of whom come from wealthy families that probably could afford private schooling for their children. I doubt many politicians have even set foot in a public school, especially one in a poorer neighborhood where access to materials aren’t prevalent and teachers can’t always give one book to every kid.

My old school gave me an F in math because I did the work differently and got the same answer I learned more from reading books and the internet than I have in my old school I learned how to speak like an adult when I was about ten years old because of how many adults I would learn from and how many books I’ve read I learned that asking for help was one of the biggest ways to get bullied in my old school, this causing bad habits stained in my brain I learned that my passion meant nothing at that school Books and writing were what kept me going

The conversation needs to change from “The education system is flawed” to “How can we change the education system?” We NEED to have more conversations like these, because right now we’re in a technological revolution! Your normal jobs, like McDonalds employees, your baristas, they will be replaced by machines. Machines who will not get tired, and don’t need pay. We need to teach kids, no, PEOPLE, how to change the world for the better. We need to teach people how to THINK, not repeat the correct formula of a math quiz.

I literally lost my Valedictorian title just because I got late at school everyday and my advisor won't let me in until that class ends. And that was enough to drop my grades a bit and let my rival take over. I was depressed and my parents kept saying "they're disappointed". I didn't know until when I saw the school speech video that what my parents and school did was wrong. It was wrong for them to not let me in the class just because I got late and it's all because of their homework that never ends until around 1 am and they make us go to school at 7 am. It was wrong for my parents to say they're disappointed in me even though I still got Salutatorian and worked so hard, I realized that they just had so much pride since every year I got first place. Poor middle school me, life sure sucked back then. And my friends were the only ones who cheered me up and played Minecraft with me. I still hate my dad for saying that I should pick better friends cause they're 'stupid' when they themselves sucked at parenting. I don't pick friends, okay? Man, life sucks.

Take failure and learn from it. Take accountability for your results even if the circumstances are against you, and try to learn from mistakes. A victim type mentality only digs yourself into a deeper hole of depression. Be grateful, work on yourself, and stay disciplined. Silence the doubters and keep going forward to better yourself.

School teached me everything. They teached me how terrible life are. They teached me how to hold my poop for several hours straight. They teached me how to only sleep 6 hours everyday. They teached me how to learn and forget. They teached me how fun life actually are, because they showed me how boring it can become. They teached me to value everything, by steal everything from me. They teached me to be pure and innocent like a child, by killing any purity and kindness left inside me. They teached me to get over every trouble in my life, because no trouble can be as horrible as school. They teached me how to be creative, by reject all different solution to the math problems. They teached me to love my self, by showing nobody loves me except me. That is why I love school.

I started homeschooling 2 months ago. I'm pretty glad to say that homeschooling's different in my program. The teachers aren't gonna chase us to submit our assignments, they let our schedules be flexible, etc. They have clubs for our passions and it's just really amazing. If all schools were like this I imagine that more children would be able to grow all their skills and become happier and healthier
