Dear brother the Balti people are some of the nicest communities in Pakistan. There’s zero crime in Baltistan. No one steals anything. If you drop anything, even a phone you’ll get it back. Once in Khaplu a local man was showing me around when I asked him what he did, he said he was the local SHO. I was shocked, believe me I’ve never met a such a humble policeman. The local Baltis rose up against the Dogara Raj and expelled them from Baltistan. Then a Sikh Indian army officer drove up in a tank to Zojila Pass and captured it from Balti people who just had outdated small arms. So they lost Kargil because of it. Then the Indian army advanced to within a few kilometers of Skardu but were defeated by Gilgit Scouts and were pushed back to present LOC. Skardu is actually 2-3 hours away from LOC. I was near this place at a waterfall called Khamosh waterfall. It is the most awesome waterfall I’ve ever seen. Three villages were captured by the Indian army during 71 war and divided the families. Those who couldn’t run back to Pakistan were separated forever. Including some husbands and wives. This is so unfortunate and just utterly heartbreaking. May Allah keep all Muslims united and safe.

Faheem thanks so much for taking us with you to this abandoned village bordering Pakistan. The division of India in 1947 was a crime against humanity and the ongoing political acrimony which is fuelled by politicians has simply separated Kashmiri families and for what purpose?
